Rayan Helal (born 21 January 1999) is a French racing cyclist. [1] He rode in the men's sprint event at the 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. [2]

Denis Sergeyevich Dmitriev is a Russian track cyclist. Specialising in the sprint events, Dmitriev's best result in international sports was winning a gold medal at the 2017 World Championships in Hong Kong. At the 2016 Summer Olympics he succeeded to the bronze medal race in sprint, winning the medal. Dmitriev is a four-time European Champion at senior level in the Sprint event for men, and the most successful sprint cyclist in the competitions's history.

Fernando Gaviria Rendón is a Colombian professional road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Movistar Team. He is well known as a sprinter. Riding for the Colombian national cycling team, Gaviria came to international attention at the 2015 Tour de San Luis, where he beat former world champion Mark Cavendish in two sprint finishes. His first major Grand Tour wins came at the 2017 Giro d'Italia. He is the brother of track cyclist Juliana Gaviria. His nickname is "Quetzal splendente", from the brightful and colourful South American bird Quetzal. Its colours recall his world championship titles, his Colombia and "la maglia Ciclamino" won at Giro d'Italia.
Jeffrey Hoogland is a Dutch track cyclist. He represented his nation in eleven editions of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships. At the 2015 UEC European Track Championships, he collected a total of three gold medals, individually in the sprint and the 1 km time trial, and with Nils van 't Hoenderdaal and Hugo Haak in the team sprint. On 31 Oct 2023, Hoogland beat the 10 year old 1 km world record with the time of 55.433 sec.

Harrie Lavreysen is a Dutch track cyclist who competes in sprint events. He is five-time Olympic gold medalist, having won the sprint and team sprint event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, and adding the sprint, the team sprint and the keirin titles at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Lavreysen also competed at the 2016 UEC European Track Championships in the team sprint event. He has won thirteen world championship titles, including five titles in the team sprint, five consecutive titles in the individual sprint (2019–2023), as well as three in the keirin (2020–2022).

Muhammad Shah Firdaus bin Sahrom is a Malaysian professional racing cyclist. He rode in the men's sprint event at the 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, coming in 34th out of 35 cyclists. He participated in both Sprint and Keirin cycling events during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the Keirin event where he won a bronze medal and in the sprint event. He competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where in the Keirin Quarter Final, he won. He was relegated in the final.

Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. French athletes have appeared in every Summer Olympic Games of the modern era, alongside Australia, Great Britain, Greece, and Switzerland. As Paris will host the 2024 Summer Olympics, France was the penultimate nation to enter the stadium, alongside the United States which will host the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, before the host country Japan during the parade of nations at the opening ceremony. Additionally, a French segment was performed in Paris and some pre-recorded events at the closing ceremony as performers did not travel to Tokyo due to the travel restrictions related to the pandemic. However, Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo was the only delegation present at the ceremony.

The 2022 European Championships were the second edition of the European Championships. It was a multi-sport event which took place in Munich, Germany from 11 to 21 August 2022. The event started three days after the closing ceremonies of the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, Great Britain.
