Red Tails (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album to the 2012 war film Red Tails , directed by Anthony Hemingway. The film's musical score is composed by Terence Blanchard with 28 original pieces from the score and four additional compositions from other musicians used in the film. [1] [2] Blanchard recorded the score two years ago and recorded the film's music at the Dvořák Hall in Rudolfinum at Prague for three days. [3] The album was released through Sony Masterworks on January 17, 2012.

Critical reception

Thom Jurek of AllMusic wrote "This is Blanchard's most unusual and populist score by Hollywood standards; that said, it's a complete gas to listen to." [4] James Adams of The Globe and Mail wrote that Blanchard's score "looks good and feels epic". [5] David Roark of Paste summarized that Blanchard's "sappy" score stylizes the film's vintage look. [6]

Terence Oliver Blanchard is an American trumpeter, pianist and composer. A jazz musician, he has also composed film scores and operas. He started his career in 1982 as a member of the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, then The Jazz Messengers. He has composed more than forty film scores and performed on more than fifty. A frequent collaborator with director Spike Lee, he has been nominated for two Academy Awards for composing the scores for Lee's films BlacKkKlansman (2018) and Da 5 Bloods (2020). He has won five Grammy Awards from fourteen nominations.

"A Love That Will Never Grow Old" is a song from the film Brokeback Mountain. Its music was composed by Argentine composer Gustavo Santaolalla, with lyrics by Bernie Taupin, and performed by singer Emmylou Harris. It won the 2006 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, the Satellite Award and the Internet Movie Award for Best Original Song. The song was nominated at the World Soundtrack Awards for Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film but was controversially deemed ineligible for Academy Award consideration owing to its insufficient air time in the movie. It is available on the film soundtrack.
