Redlands East Valley High School is a public English medium co-educational high school in Redlands, California, United States, near the San Bernardino Mountains. The school opened in the 1997-1998 school year as part of the Redlands Unified School District.

Redlands East Valley is a 264,000-square-foot (24,500 m2) comprehensive high school located on a 57-acre (230,000 m2) sloping site, designed to house 2,500 students. An element in the design was a focus on the media center and its application of technology.[ citation needed ] The majority of the building exteriors are built with concrete masonry, exposed structural steel, glass, and metal roofs. The school colors and mascot were chosen to contrast cross-town rival Redlands High School, an example being how Redlands East Valley has a Wildcat and Redlands High has a Terrier.[ citation needed ]

The school cost US$35,000,000 (41 million 1995) to build and was completed in September 1997. The roof of the Media Center Library was designed to look like an opened book. The performing arts building was designed to look like a piano, complete with black and white tiles on the floor in the piano lab. The Performing Arts Theater is named in honor of Harry Blackstone Jr., a stage magician who lived in Redlands. The school offers the Advanced Placement program. [2]

Football

The Redlands East Valley Wildcats play in the Citrus Belt League. Under then head coach Kurt Bruich, the football team has at one point been positioned #2 in the state and #17 in the nation, and has gone to state championship as well.[ citation needed ] With REV's victory over the Citrus Hill Hawks on November 28, 2014, the school became the first in the district since 1979 to reach the CIF finals. On December 5, 2014, Redlands East Valley football won their first CIF championship and two weeks after, the school won their first state championship, defeating Clayton Valley Charter High School in the Division II championship.[ citation needed ] [3]

Wrestling

The REV wrestling team was the first boys team in school history to win a CIF title as well as the first team to ever win an individual state title. In 2010 the boys wrestling team became REV's first boys CIF champions. [4] In 2011 Redlands East Valley Wrestler Chris Mecate became the school's first ever individual CIF state champion. [5]

Citrus Belt League (C.B.L.) is a high school sports league in the Inland Empire region within the Greater Los Angeles area of California's CIF Southern Section. The Citrus Belt League was one of the first leagues in 1913 when the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) was established under a different name. The league dates back to the 1890s, with founding members Chaffey High School of Ontario, Redlands High School, Riverside High School and San Bernardino High School. It was the only Division I league in the San Bernardino-Riverside County area since its inception, until 2006, when CIF Southern Section releagued it to Division II. The league also organizes an Academic Decathlon competition.

Adolfo Camarillo High School (ACHS) is a public high school in Camarillo, California. The school is part of the Oxnard Union High School District and serves students in grades 9–12 in east Camarillo, Somis, and the Santa Rosa Valley. ACHS is named for Adolfo Camarillo, a prominent Californio ranchero and founder of the city which bears his name; he donated part of Rancho Calleguas for the high school. Ocean View High School (OVHS) is a public comprehensive college-prep academy located in Huntington Beach, California. OVHS was established in 1976; their mascot is the Seahawks. Currently, there are approximately 1,470 enrolled students. It is part of the HBUHSD school district, with five other high schools. The school is unique in that it features the only IB Program in the district. The implementation of “embedded tutorial” at the end of each period two years ago resulted in the biggest drop in the total number of D and F grades for students in the district. It features a business academy that has 170 participants, the sole Mandarin Chinese foreign language program in the district, and a college preparation curriculum. In addition, the school boasts the highest senior satisfaction survey results of the district. OVHS is also a two-time California Distinguished School.

Chris Polk is a former American football running back. He played college football for the Washington Huskies. Despite being considered a top running back prospect for the 2012 NFL Draft, he went undrafted due to concerns over a potentially degenerative shoulder condition. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2012.

Jaelan Phillips American football player

Jaelan Everett Phillips is an American football outside linebacker for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at UCLA for two seasons before medically retiring after 2018 due to sustaining several concussions and other injuries. He then studied music production at the Los Angeles City College before transferring to the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in 2019, where he also returned to football and played for the Miami Hurricanes.
