Redwood (Coillte Rua in Irish) is a townland [1] in the historical Barony of Ormond Lower, County Tipperary, Ireland. It is also an electoral district [2] in the Dáil constituency of Offaly having previously been part of the Tipperary North Dáil constituency. [3]

Location

Redwood townland is the most northern townland of Tipperary and therefore of the province of Munster. [4] It lies between the townlands of Ballymacegan and Ballyea with the River Shannon separating it from County Galway.

Redwood Castle , a restored Norman castle with a Sheela na Gig [5] is a protected structure (ref S329) on the North Tipperary list of protected structures. [6]

Redwood Bog is a degraded raised bog it was acquired from Bord na Móna for conservation purposes and established as a nature reserve. It was established in 1991 and is state owned. [7] [8]

Redwood church is listed as being a building of special architectural and social interest. [9] Built in 1853 it is a small well constructed single cell building built overlooking the Shannon Callows.

St. Ruadhan's Park, the Lorrha-Dorrha GAA grounds are located at Moatfield, Redwood. [10]

Walshpark is a townland in the historical Barony of Ormond Lower, County Tipperary, Ireland. It is located south of the staggered junction where the R438 and R489 roads meet. It is within the civil parish of Dorrha in the north of the county. The name comes from the Walsh family who made their home here in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Derrinsallow is a townland in the historical Barony of Ormond Lower, County Tipperary, Ireland. It is located North-West of Birr on the south-west bank of the Little Brosna River within the civil parish of Dorrha. The Little Brosna River provided power to the 19th century corn mills at Derrinsallow which although now in ruins are mentioned in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage. The mill race is a popular fishing area. A triple arched limestone bridge from the 19th century crosses the river here.
