Regret (Indonesian : Sesal) is a 1995 Indonesian independent Islamic teen drama film directed by Sophan Sophiaan, based on the short story of the same name by Ramdhan K. H. Produced by Sophiaan's own company Sinemasakini in association with Global Sarana Media Nusantara and Multi Permai Films, the film stars Widyawati and Sophiaan in their respective lead roles.

Synopsis

On their 22nd wedding anniversary, Mutia was suffered in a liver cancer, which she would not changed her attitudes to her husband Affan. Although she was sympathetic, their children, Ganang and Gadis, are unlikely to be stronger when they have conflicts. When Affan's solitude began to rose, Mutia has passed away, leaving her husband's regrets.

Indonesian rock singer Oki Oktaviani performs two songs in this film, with one of them being a cover of a song written by Dwiki Dharmawan and Ags. Arya Dipayana, titled "Dengan Menyebut Nama Allah". [1]

Release

Prior to its limited release, Regret was premiered earlier on Indosiar, on 12 January 1995. [2] It eventually received a limited theatrical release a day later, in select Indonesian theatres. [3] The film was also screened at the 40th Asia-Pacific Film Festival, which held from 23 to 28 July 1995. [4]

"Dengan Menyebut Nama Allah" is a song recorded, composed and arranged by Indonesian musician, songwriter and record producer Dwiki Dharmawan. Taken from the his first special album of the same name, released in 1993, the song is written and co-produced by Ags. Arya Dipayana, and features vocals performed by Novia Kolopaking. It is primarily an Islamic-influenced pop song with keyboards and choir-like vocals, while the lyrics hint towards themselves do the better ways.
