Reinhard Pekrun (born 1952, Braunschweig, Germany [1] ) is a psychological scientist and educational researcher best known for his research on achievement emotions. He is a professor at the University of Essex, United Kingdom, [2] and a professorial fellow at the Institute for Positive Psychology and Education, Australian Catholic University, Sydney. [3]
He received his MSc (Dipl.-Psych.) in psychology from the Technical University of Braunschweig (1977), Germany, and his Ph.D. (Dr. phil.) from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (1982). [4] Pekrun was a professor at the University of Regensburg (1991–2001) and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2001–2012). [4] He also served as Dean of the Faculty for Psychology and Education (Regensburg) and Vice-President for Research and Teacher Education at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. [4] He has taught as a guest professor at the University of Zurich, Switzerland; the University of Manitoba, Canada; [5] and the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and served as president of the Stress and Anxiety Research Society. Pekrun is conducting research on emotions, personality development, and educational assessment and evaluation. He has authored more than 350 publications and is listed among the top 1% of researchers in psychology and education. [7] Pekrun originated the Control-Value Theory (CVT) which explains the individual and social origins of emotions, focusing on achievement emotions and the importance of personal beliefs for these emotions. The theory also explains how emotions impact human performance, how they can be regulated, and how intervention and professional practices can promote adaptive emotions and reduce maladaptive emotions such as test anxiety. [8] Pekrun has developed the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals (e.g., Educational Psychologist; Educational Psychology Review; Journal of Educational Psychology). [4]

Lewis R. Goldberg is an American personality psychologist and a professor emeritus at the University of Oregon. He is closely associated with the lexical hypothesis that any culturally important personality characteristic will be represented in the language of that culture. This hypothesis led to a five factor structure of personality trait adjectives. When applied to personality items this structure is also known as the five-factor model (FFM) of personality. He is the creator of the International Personality Item Pool(IPIP), a website that provides public-domain personality measures.

She is a professor of psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, and was previously director of the University's Learning Research and Development Center. In 1986-1987, Resnick was the president of the American Educational Research Association. She received the 1998 E. L. Thorndike Award from the American Psychological Association.

She is a director of the Interdisciplinary Affective Science Laboratory. Along with James Russell, she is the founding editor-in-chief of the journal Emotion Review. Along with James Gross, she founded the Society for Affective Science.

Nilanjana Dasgupta is a social psychologist whose work focuses on the effects of social contexts on implicit stereotypes - particularly on factors that insulate women in STEM fields from harmful stereotypes which suggest that females perform poorly in such areas. Dasgupta is a Professor of Psychology and is the Director of the Institute of Diversity Sciences and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Mary Klevjord Rothbart is professor emerita of psychology at the University of Oregon. She is known for her research in the fields of temperament and social development, emotional development, and development of attention. She was a co-founder of Birth to Three, a parent support and education program. She has written over 159 articles related to educational psychology, developmental psychology, developmental cognitive neuroscience and biological psychology. Rothbart has also authored and co-authored many books, including Becoming Who We Are, for which she received the Eleanor Maccoby Book Award from the American Psychological Association. Two other popular volumes by Rothbart are Temperament, a Handbook of Child Psychology, and Attention in Early Development: Themes and Variations.
