Remya Nambeesan is an Indian actress and playback singer, who primarily works in Malayalam and Tamil films. She has acted in more than 70 films. She started her career as child artist and supporting roles in early 2000s, and went appear to lead roles in the mid-2000s. Apart from Malayalam and Tamil languages, she appears in Telugu and Kannada languages films too.

Early life and family

Remya Nambeesan was born in Chottanikkara, Kochi, Kerala [1] to Subrahmaniam Unni and Jayasree. [2] [3] Her father is a former theatre artiste, who was an active member of troupes such as "Jubilee" and "Harishree". She has a brother, Rahul, [2] who has worked as the music director in the Malayalam movie Philips and the Monkey Pen and as a playback singer in the film Thattathin Marayathu. [4] She attended the Mahatma Gandhi Public School, Ambadimala near Chottanikkara. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communicative English from St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam. [5]

Career

Remya started her career with minor supporting roles in the following years in films including Sathyan Anthikad's satire film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001) [6] and Gramophone (2003). [2] [7] [8]

She played her first lead role, as a bold dance teacher, in the 2006 film Aanachandam . [9] [10] [11] [2] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19]

She was seen in Bachelor Party (2012) [20] [21] and in Ivan Megharoopan (2012), she featured in a cameo appearance. [17] She also signed up for Saji Surendran's comedy film Husbands in Goa (2012). [20] and Oru Yathrayil (2013). [22] [23] [24] [25] [26] [27] [28]

Left Right Left is a 2013 Indian Malayalam-language political drama film, directed by Arun Kumar Aravind and written by Murali Gopy. Left Right Left revolves around the lives of Jayan, Roy, Sahadevan, Anitha and Jennifer. Released on 14 June 2013, the film was set in three periods – the 60s/70s, the 80s/90s and the present day. It got mostly positive reviews upon release but drew occasional criticism for some of its characters and scenes resembling real-life political leaders and incidents. "Muthuchippy Poloru" is a Malayalam song composed by Shaan Rahman that featured in the film Thattathin Marayathu. The lyrics was written by Anu Elizabeth Jose. It was sung by Sachin Warrier and actress Remya Nambeesan. The song was one of the most popular Malayalam songs of 2012 and won several awards. It was later reused in the Telugu remake of Thattathin Marayathu, Saheba Subramanyam, as "Muddu Muddu".

Telugabbai is a 2013 Indian Telugu language film written and directed by OS Avinash. The film stars Tanish, Remya and Tashu Kaushik. The story is set between two Telugu families who migrated to Malaysia long ago, says the director. The movie has been shot completely in Malaysia. This was the first Telugu film to be shot completely in Malaysia. Mejo Joseph composed the music of the movie. The film was titled Salamath first.

Arikil Oraal is a 2013 Malayalam psychological thriller film scripted and directed by Sunil Ibrahim. The central character played by Indrajith Sukumaran is a creative ad director, Siddharth, with Nivin Pauly as Ichcha a waiter at a cafe and Remya Nambeesan as a trained dancer Veena. Supporting roles are played by Prathap Pothen as a psychologist and Lena as the head of a corporation. The movie is following Indrajith's character. The cinematography was by Krish Kymal, and the music was scored by Gopi Sunder. Arikil Oraal was produced by Ashiq Usman under the banner of Milestone Cinemas. The film started shooting in April 2013 in Kochi. The film released on 30 August 2013. It was equally praised by both critics as well as audiences. The movie was further noticed during its DVD release. Sunil Ibrahim was appreciated for his raw film-making style and strong characterizations.

Damaal Dumeel is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language black comedy-thriller film directed by Sree and produced by C J Jayakumar. The film features Vaibhav and Remya Nambeesan in the leading roles, while Sayaji Shinde and Kota Srinivasa Rao play pivotal roles. The film was released on 18 April 2014 to mostly positive reviews. The film was dubbed and released in Telugu as Dhana Dhan in 2016.
