Reunion F.C. is a former Kenyan Premier League club, created from the renaming of Luo Union Football Club in the 1980, in the wake of a purge instigated by the attorney general, Charles Njonjo, against tribally divisive clubs and organizations. They are currently participating in the Nairobi Provincial League, as they resurrect from the bad run that saw them relegated to the lower division. [1]

History

The club known then as Luo Union F.C. and, subsequently Luo United F.C., was founded in 1957 in Mwanza, Tanzania, as a welfare club of Luo Union, East Africa. Most of the players were working with Tanganyika Plantation Company in Mwanza. The club changed its name to Reunion in 1980. They won the Premier League in 1964 and 1975 and the FA Cup in 1964, 1965 and 1966. It was also the first Kenyan Club to win the East and Central Club Championship (1976 and 1977). Former Kenya Prime Minister Raila Odinga is said to have once been on the books at Reunion in the 1960s. [1]

Gor Mahia Football Club, commonly also known as K'Ogalo, is a football club based in Nairobi, Kenya. They have won the Kenyan Premier League a record 19 times, and have also won the FKF President's Cup a record 10 times. They are the only team from Kenya and the CECAFA region to win an African continental title to date, having won the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1987 after previously reaching the final in 1979.

Shabana F.C. Kenyan football club

Shabana Football Club, more commonly known as simply Shabana or sometimes Shabana Kisii, is a FKF Premier League club based in Kisii. The club was formed in 1980 by Kisii based businessman Dogo Khan. They won the division title in 2014.They were promoted back to the FKF Premier League after winning the Zone B of the FKF Division One. It had nearly collapsed in 2006 when a dispute over its relegation from the Kenyan Premier League. They were set to play in Nationwide League, the second level tier in Kenya, but refused to participate insisting they belong to the Premier League. As a result, the club did not participate any league in 2007. However the team regrouped and was renamed Gusii United Football Club, eventually returning to league football. Their home stadium is Gusii Stadium.On 28 October 2018, Shabana was upgraded to Kenya's second largest league The Kenya National Super League after defeating Mwatate on penalties the game that went full time 1-1 at Kasarani Stadium Nairobi. The Luo Union was a welfare organisation formed in Nairobi, Kenya, in the early 1920s. This organisation sought to create, expand and govern a general cultural identity among Luo people in East Africa. Luo people are a Nilotic ethnic group native to western Kenya and the Mara Region of northern Tanzania in East Africa. The Luo Union was one of several welfare organisations started during the colonial period in East Africa which aimed at building broad cultural unity. This organisation played a crucial role in creating a collective sense of identity and unity amongst Luo people after the second world war. It was also an important medium of grassroots political support for African Nationalist movements in the 1950s. The Luo Union FC was the unions soccer club. This club would later become Gor Mahia FC, one of Kenya's best performing football clubs.
