Rhydyfelin Rugby Football Club is a Welsh rugby union team based in Rhydyfelin. Rhydyfelin RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union, Rhondda & East Glamorgan district, Mid District C and is a feeder club for the Cardiff Blues. [2]
The present club badge is based on a shield design split into quarters. The four sections of the badge represent the Glamorgan Chevrons, the former round houses of Rhydyfelin, the old tin works of Rhydyfelin and the old viaduct that once ran through the village. [3]

It competes in the Indigo Group Premiership, that it won for four consecutive seasons between 2012 and 2015, and the WRU National Cup, that it has won on 6 different occasions, the most recent being in 2014.

The 2018–19 WRU Championship was the seventh season of the WRU Championship, the second tier of club rugby in Wales run by the Welsh Rugby Union. It was be the third season to feature 12 teams, reduced from 14 in previous seasons. For this season, "ring-fencing" was abolished and the winner would play-off against the 12th placed team in the 2018–19 Principality Premiership at a neutral venue to determine the 12th team for the 2019–20 season. The competition was won by Pontypool for the third consecutive year and completed the season unbeaten for the second year running. The bottom four clubs relegated were Bedlinog, Newbridge, Newcastle Emlyn and Rhydyfelin.
The 2019–20 WRU Championship was the eighth season of the WRU Championship, the second tier of club rugby in Wales run by the Welsh Rugby Union. The league expanded to 14 teams from 12 seasons for the previous three seasons.
