Rick Palacio (born November 3,1974) is an American political executive who served as Chairman of the Colorado Democratic Party from 2011 to 2017.
He was born in Pueblo,Colorado. Palacio graduated from Regis University in Denver.
Prior to his service as Chair,Palacio worked in a variety of roles in Colorado and national politics. [1] [2] Palacio held multiple roles with then-U.S. Rep. John Salazar,including Legislative Assistant and later Deputy Communications Director.
In 2008,he was hired as Deputy Director of Member Service in the office of the House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. [3] Palacio was one of the primary Congressional staffers responsible for the repeal of Don't ask,don't tell. [4]
Palacio was elected Chairman of the Colorado Democratic Party on March 5,2011. [5] He is the first Latino in Colorado's history to hold the office of chair of a major political party,and when elected was second in the nation. [6] Palacio served as a Senior Advisor for the John Hickenlooper 2020 presidential campaign. [7]
Palacio is the founder of PSGroup,a political and corporate consulting firm based in Denver,Colorado. In April 2020,Palacio joined Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck,a law and lobbying firm,in their State &Local Legislation &Policy Group. [8]
Steny Hamilton Hoyer is an American politician and retired attorney who has served as the U.S. representative for Maryland's 5th congressional district since 1981. He also served as House Majority Leader from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023. Hoyer first attained office through a special election on May 19,1981. As of 2023,he is in his 22nd House term. His district includes a large swath of rural and suburban territory southeast of Washington,D.C. Hoyer is the dean of the Maryland congressional delegation and the most senior Democrat in the House.

Carroll served as President of the Colorado State Senate from 2013 to 2014 and as minority leader in 2015. Carroll stepped down as minority leader in July 2015 to unsuccessfully run against incumbent Republican Mike Coffman for Colorado's 6th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. The 2010 Colorado gubernatorial election was held on Tuesday,November 2,2010 to elect the Governor of Colorado,who would serve a four-year term that began in January 2011. One-term incumbent Democrat Bill Ritter announced that he would not run for re-election in 2010. Dan Maes,backed by the Tea Party movement,won the Republican nomination in the primary with 50.6% of the vote and a 1.3% margin over rival Scott McInnis. In claiming victory,Maes called on former representative Tom Tancredo,running as the Constitution Party's nominee to "stop your campaign tonight." Denver mayor John Hickenlooper was unopposed for the Democratic nomination. Hickenlooper won the race with over 50% of the vote.
