Hueytown is a city near Bessemer in western Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area, and was part of the heavy industry development in this area in the 20th century. At the 2020 census, the population was 16,776.

Indianola Park was a trolley park that operated in Columbus, Ohio's University District from 1905 to 1937. The amusement park was created by Charles Miles and Frederick Ingersoll, and peaked in popularity in the 1910s, entertaining crowds of up to 10,000 with the numerous roller coasters and rides, with up to 5,000 in the massive pool alone. The park was also the home field for the Columbus Panhandles for half of a decade. In the 1920s, new owners bought and remodeled the park, and it did well until it closed at the end of the Great Depression.

Joseph Edwin Johnson is an American academic. He served as the president of University of Tennessee system from 1991 to 1999. He is an alumnus of Birmingham–Southern College and the University of Tennessee. He is also a 1951 graduate of Hueytown High School in Hueytown, Alabama where his fellow high school seniors accurately voted him "most likely to succeed."
Melvin Lane Vines was an American football player and coach. He was a high school football head coach for 28 seasons in the state of Alabama during the years from 1930-1941 and 1944, 1946 and 1948-1961 where he compiled a record of 135-101-21. Vines also served as the head football coach at the University of Tampa in 1942. As a college football player, he was a member of two national championship teams at the University of Alabama where he played on the first Southern teams to compete in The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
