Marie "Rie" Gerarda Cornelia Knipscheer (1911-2003) was a Dutch artist.
Knipscheer was born on 6 April 1911 in Amsterdam. She attended the Instituut voor Kunstnijverheidsonderwijs (Institute for Applied Arts Education now the Gerrit Rietveld Academie ) and the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (State Academy of Fine Arts). Her teachers included Johannes Hendricus Jurres and Hendrik Jan Wolter. She was married to J. Rooker. [1] Her work was included in the 1939 exhibition and sale Onze Kunst van Heden (Our Art of Today) at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Knipscheer died on 3 February 2003 in Laren, North Holland. [3]
Rachel Ruysch was a Dutch still-life painter from the Northern Netherlands. She specialized in flowers, inventing her own style and achieving international fame in her lifetime. Due to a long and successful career that spanned over six decades, she became the best documented woman painter of the Dutch Golden Age, being followed by Jan van Huysum, who took flower painting to another degree of popularity.
Anna Maria Geertruida "Annie" Schmidt was a Dutch writer. She is called the mother of the Dutch theatrical song, and the queen of Dutch children's literature, praised for her "delicious Dutch idiom," and considered one of the greatest Dutch writers. An ultimate honour was extended to her posthumously, in 2007, when a group of Dutch historians compiled the "Canon of Dutch History" and included Schmidt, alongside national icons such as Vincent van Gogh and Anne Frank.
Michaël Henricus Gertrudis (Michiel) van Kempen is a Dutch writer, art historian and literary critic. He has written novels, short stories, essays, travel literature and scenarios. He was the compiler of a huge range of anthologies of Dutch-Caribbean literature and wrote an extensive history of the literature of Suriname, in two volumes.
Hendrika Cornelia "Rie" de Balbian Verster-Bolderhey was a Dutch painter. She attended the Dagtekenschool voor meisjes (Amsterdam). She submitted some of her work into the "Paintings" event of the "Mixed Painting" category of the art competitions at the 1928 Summer Olympics, but did not win a medal. She was born in Amsterdam in 1890 and married publicist Jan François Leopold de Balbian Verster in 1910. She was a member of Amsterdam's Arti et Amicitiae society and the Vereeniging Sint Lucas (Amsterdam). Balbian Verster-Bolderhey's work was included in the 1939 exhibition and sale Onze Kunst van Heden at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. She died in Weesp on 12 March 1990 at the age of 100.
Angèle Georgette Ghislaine Manteau, born in Dinant on 24 January 1911 and died in Aalst on 20 April 2008, was a Belgian publisher. According to the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts, which presented her with an award in 2003, she was "the main Flemish literary editor of the twentieth century" and her publishing house has "undoubtedly left its mark on the history of Flemish literature".
