The World Figure Skating Championships, commonly referred to as "Worlds", are an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union. Medals are awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Generally held in March, the World Championships are considered to be the most prestigious of the ISU Figure Skating Championships. With the exception of the Olympic title, a world title is considered to be the highest competitive achievement in figure skating.
Tomáš Verner is a former Czech figure skater. He is the 2008 European champion, a medalist at two other European Championships, and a ten-time Czech national champion. He has won six senior Grand Prix medals, including the 2010 Cup of Russia title.
The Nebelhorn Trophy is an annual international figure skating competition organized by the Deutsche Eislauf-Union and held in Oberstdorf, Germany. In most years, the event is part of the ISU Challenger Series. The competition is named after the Nebelhorn, a nearby mountain. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The Fritz-Geiger-Memorial Trophy is presented to the team with the highest placements across all disciplines.
The Finlandia Trophy is an annual international figure skating competition. Since 1995, it has been held in the Greater Helsinki region of Finland. In most years, the event is part of the ISU Challenger Series. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, ice dance, and synchronized skating.
Anna Cappellini is an Italian ice dancer. With partner Luca Lanotte, she is the 2014 World champion, the 2014 European champion, the 2015 Cup of China champion and a thirteen-time medalist on the Grand Prix series, and a seven-time Italian national champion (2012–18).

Ondřej Hotárek is a Czech-Italian pair skater and coach who began competing for Italy in 2006. He competed with Valentina Marchei until the end of their partnership in 2018. With former partner Stefania Berton, he is the 2013 European bronze medalist, the 2013 Skate Canada International champion, and a three-time Italian national champion. Berton/Hotárek are the first Italian pair skaters to win European and Grand Prix medals.
Adam Richard Rippon is a retired American competitive figure skater and media personality. He is the 2018 Olympic bronze medalist in the team event, the 2010 Four Continents Champion, and 2016 U.S. National Champion. Rippon competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, where he finished 10th. At the junior level, Rippon is a two-time Junior World Champion, the 2007–2008 Junior Grand Prix Final Champion, and the 2008 U.S. junior national champion.
The Merano Cup was an annual international figure skating competition which is generally held in November in Merano, Italy. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles, and pair skating at the senior, junior, and novice levels. The competition was last held in 2017.
Saulius Ambrulevičius is a Lithuanian ice dancer. With current ice dance partner Allison Reed, they are the 2024 European bronze medalists, two-time ISU Grand Prix bronze medalists, and six-time ISU Challenger Series medalists. They have finished in the top ten at two World Championships.

The 2013 World Figure Skating Championships was an international figure skating competition in the 2012–13 season. The event was held at the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario, Canada on March 11–17. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The event also determined the number of entries a country may send to the 2014 World Championships and 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 2011–2012 figure skating season began on July 1, 2011, and ends on June 30, 2012. During this season, elite skaters competed on the ISU Championship level at the 2012 European, Four Continents, World Junior, and World Championships. They also competed in elite events such as the Grand Prix series and Junior Grand Prix series, culminating in the Grand Prix Final.
