Roberto Palazuelos Badeaux (born January 31, 1967), [1] better known as Roberto Palazuelos (Spanish pronunciation: [roˈβeɾtopalaˈswelos] ) or El Diamante Negro ('The Black Diamond'), is a Mexican actor, model, and producer best known for his work in Mexican telenovelas.
Roberto Palazuelos [2] [3] was born to a Mexican father and a mother of French origin. He is the only child from that relationship, but has five half-siblings.[ citation needed ]
Palazuelos was raised by his aunt, noted Mexican chef Susana Palazuelos. [4]
His nickname, El Diamante Negro, was given to him by Mexican actor and comedian Omar Chaparro, mixing the name of Palazuelos's hotel, El Diamante K, and his appearance of being overtly tanned. [5]

Palazuelos has been known in Mexico since the late 1980s for his work in popular telenovelas such as Mi segunda madre ('My Second Mother') and Simplemente María ('Simply María'). His performance as Roger in the successful teen-oriented Muchachitas ('Girls') propelled him to fame. Dos mujeres, un camino ('Two Women, One Path'), Amada enemiga ('Beloved Enemy'), and Salomé are also among his best known works.
In 2003, Palazuelos was one of the participating personalities of Big Brother Mexico . He also hosted the Mexican reality TV show El Bar Provoca , in 2006.
Palazuelos usually plays the bad guy in Mexican soap operas. He was featured as an antagonist character in the telenovelas Mañana es para siempre ('Tomorrow is Forever'), Llena de amor ('Filled with Love'), Qué bonito amor ('What a Beautiful Love'), and Hasta el fin del mundo ('Until the End of the World').
Palazuelos's first professional acting gig was in 1988, playing John in Don't Panic.[ citation needed ]

Palazuelos Badeaux is seeking election as one of Quintana Roo's senators in the 2024 Senate election, occupying the first place on the Citizens' Movement's two-name formula. [6] [7]
Palazuelos was married to Yadira Garza. [3] Cristian Castro sang the opening song at their wedding reception. [8] Another guest, Pablo Montero, sang Ave Maria during the wedding Mass. [8] They have had one child, [2] named Roberto Palazuelos Jr.
Palazuelos received, both, his Jr. High School and High School certifications and Diploma, when he was already 41 years old. [3] In 2008, Palazuelos went back to college to prepare for a law degree. [9]
Palazuelos owns and runs a bed and breakfast, located in Guerrero. He also owns several hotels in Tulum, Quintana Roo.[ citation needed ]
On October 15 2020, he received a honorary doctorate for his artistic work. [10]

The 2022 Quintana Roo gubernatorial election was held on 5 June 2022 to elect a new governor of Quintana Roo and 25 deputies to the state congress. Despite Carlos Joaquín González being a popular incumbent governor from the Party of the Democratic Revolution and the National Action Party the race was considered as a long shot due to the state's high approval of López Obrador, Morena's strong showing in the midterms and Mara Lezama's own popularity. On November 3, 2021, it was revealed Marko Cortés, the leader of the National Action Party expected to loose the state along with other four in play. The election resulted in a landslide for Mexico’s ruling Morena party during President López Obrador's first term in office, winning the gubernatorial election. Additionally, they won all 15 local districts with the opposition only getting proportional representation seats.
