Equatorial Guinea competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, which was held from 13 to 29 August 2004. The country's participation at Athens marked its sixth appearance in the Summer Olympics since its début at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The delegation included two athletics competitors: Roberto Mandje and Emilia Mikue Ondo in the long and middle distance disciplines respectively. Mikue Ondo was selected as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony. Both athletes did not advance further than the first round of their respective events with Mandje failing to make the start of the men's 3000 metres steeplechase.
Football was one of the tournaments at the 1928 Summer Olympics. It was won by Uruguay against Argentina, and was the last Olympic football tournament before the inception of the FIFA World Cup, which was held for the first time in 1930. This edition, along with the preceding 1924 edition, were the only tournaments in history outside of the World Cup that count as Senior World Titles equivalent to the World Cup.
Fernando "Fernand" Sanz y Martínez de Arizala was a Spanish-born naturalized French racing cyclist, younger of two illegitimate sons of King Alfonso XII of Spain and his mistress, Elena Sanz. He participated in cycling at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris for France, and there won the silver medal in the men's sprint.
Roberto José Lovera Vidal was a Uruguayan basketball player who competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics and in the 1952 Summer Olympics. Lovera was part of the Uruguayan basketball team, which finished fifth in the 1948 tournament. Four years later Lovera was a member of the Uruguayan team, which won the bronze medal. He played all eight matches.
Roberto Eugenio Cerro, named "Cherro" was an Argentine football striker. He was born in Barracas in the city of Buenos Aires in Argentina. He played the majority of his career with Boca Juniors, he scored 221 goals in 305 games for the club, making him Boca Juniors' highest scoring player until his record was surpassed by Martín Palermo in 2010. He also ranks 5th. among the all-time Primera División top scorers, with 236 goals in 345 league matches.
Carlo Orlandi was an Italian boxer who won a gold medal at the 1928 Olympics. In 1929 Orlandi turned professional. During the 1930s Orlandi held both the Italian and European lightweight titles. He then won the Italian welterweight title in 1941 and retired in 1944. Orlandi was deaf.

Guatemala competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. In what was the country's fourteenth Summer Olympics since its debut at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. A total of twelve athletes competed in nine sports and twelve distinct events. It was the lowest number of participants for Guatemala since the 1980 Games in Moscow, USSR. Three of the twelve athletes were taking part in their second Olympics, and one of them, race walker Luis García, participated in his fourth. In any event that involved a progression through rounds, the Guatemalan athletes did not advance past the first round; as of the Beijing Olympics, there had yet to be a Guatemalan medalist. At the opening ceremony, badminton player Kevin Cordón bore Guatemala's flag.
Peru sent a delegation to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from 12 to 28 February 2010. This marked Peru's debut at the Winter Olympics. The Peruvian delegation consisted of three athletes: two alpine skiers—Manfred Oettl Reyes and Ornella Oettl Reyes—and the cross-country skier Roberto Carcelen. The nation's best performance in any event was 67th place in the men's giant slalom alpine skiing event by Manfred Oettl Reyes.

He competed in the men's tournament at the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Segundo Luna was an Argentine footballer, born in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. He was the first Santiagueño to play in Argentina's national football team as well as the first to play in an international tournament. Luna's team finished second in the Athletic Club Students Cultural Football League. He then joined the international football team in 1927, the year before the Olympics in Amsterdam. His first tournament was the 1927 South American Championship, in Lima, Peru, where Argentina qualified for the 1928 Olympics. The name 'Segundo Luna' means 'Second Moon' in Spanish.
Rita Sanz-Agero is a female modern pentathlete from Guatemala. At age sixteen, Sanz-Agero became the youngest modern pentathlete to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she finished thirty-fourth in the women's event, with a score of 4,844 points.
