Jonathan Rocco Underwood is an American football long snapper for the Florida Gators. He won the 2024 Patrick Mannelly Award as the top long snapper in college football.
Wood is from Lake Mary, Florida. [1] His father, David, was an All-American offensive guard for UCF; his brother, David Jr., played high school football; and Underwood is a cousin to National Football League (NFL) punters Tommy and Johnny Townsend, both of whom played college football for the Florida Gators. [2] [3] Underwood attended Lake Mary High School where he played football and basketball. [2]
At Lake Mary, Underwood was used as a wide receiver, tight end and long snapper. [3] He had 44 receptions for 848 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior and then caught 23 passes for 347 yards and five touchdowns as a senior. [2] [4] He was mainly recruited to play college football as a long snapper, receiving a ranking of number one nationally at the position by Rubio Long Snapping. [4] He was ranked a six-star prospect by Rubio and committed to play for the Florida Gators. [5]
Underwood redshirted as a freshman at Florida in 2021, appearing only in their 2021 Gasparilla Bowl game against UCF. [4] In 2022, he appeared in 13 games, recording one tackle and one fumble recovery. [4] The following year, he played in all 12 games and made a total of one tackle. [4] As a junior in 2024, Underwood played in 11 of 12 regular season games and tallied three tackles and a fumble recovery, being named second-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the Patrick Mannelly Award winner as the best long snapper in college football. Randolph Channing Crowder Jr. is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for six seasons with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Florida Gators, earning first-team All-American honors in 2004. Crowder was selected by the Dolphins in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft, and played his entire professional career with Miami.
Brandon T. Siler is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons. He played college football for the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Gators' 2006 national championship team. He was chosen by the San Diego Chargers in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL draft, and also played for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Ricot Joseph is a Haitian-American former professional football safety who played one season in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins. Born in Haiti, Joseph was raised in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, and played college football for the UCF Golden Knights. He joined the Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2002 and appeared in six games that year. He was released by Washington prior to the 2003 season and later signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, spending two seasons with them but seeing no playing time.
Brandon Spikes is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Florida Gators, was recognized as a consensus All-American twice and was a member of two BCS National Championship teams. He was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft. He also played for the Buffalo Bills.
The 1999 UCF Golden Knights football season was Mike Kruczek's second year as the head coach of the Golden Knights. Looking to build on the success of a nine-win season the year before, the Knights visited five high-profile opponents. Kruczek led UCF to an overall record of 4–7. With the departure of Daunte Culpepper to the NFL draft, the quarterback duties were taken over by college journeyman Vic Penn. On two occasions, the Golden Knights nearly upset a major SEC opponent on the road.
Dante Antwane Fowler Jr. is an American professional football defensive end for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Florida Gators and was selected third overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2015 NFL draft. Fowler missed his entire rookie season after sustaining an ACL tear. He has also played for the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, and Dallas Cowboys.
Mark Anthony Campbell is an American former professional football player who was a defensive tackle for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). Campbell played college football for the Florida Gators from 1992 to 1995. He was selected by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 1996 NFL draft, and played a single season for the Arizona Cardinals in 1997. Campbell was also a member of the Orlando Rage of the XFL.

The Knights were led by first-year head coach Gus Malzahn and played their home games at Bounce House in Orlando, Florida. They competed as members of the American Athletic Conference.
