Nippon Professional Baseball or NPB is the highest level of baseball in Japan. Locally,it is often called Puro Yakyū (プロ野球),meaning Professional Baseball. Outside of Japan,it is often referred to as "Japanese baseball".
The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks are a Japanese professional baseball team based in Fukuoka,Fukuoka Prefecture. They compete in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) as a member of the Pacific League. Founded on February 22,1938,as the Nankai Club,being the first Kansai team to play in Osaka proper,the team went through a few name changes before settling on Nankai Hawks in 1947,eventually changing ownership in 1988 and moving to Fukuoka in 1989. The team subsequently became known as the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks until 2005,when they were purchased by SoftBank Group,becoming the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. Since 1993,the Hawks have played at the Fukuoka PayPay Dome,which has gone under several name changes and seats 40,000 people.
David Alan Hostetler is an American former professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter who played for the Montreal Expos,Texas Rangers,and Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). He also played for the Nankai Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). As of November 2007,he is the National Coordinator of Baseball Sales for equipment company Riddell and an ambassador to youth players.

He is a 3×NPB All-Star,a 3×Pacific League saves leader,a 5×Japan Series Champion,won the Japan Series Most Valuable Player Award,won the Pacific League MVP Award,and won the Matsutaro Shoriki Award.
Masao Fujii was a Japanese former professional baseball pitcher for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He was born in Nishi-ku,Fukuoka and raised in Karatsu,Saga.

Kimiyasu Kudo is a Japanese former professional baseball pitcher and the former manager of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball. Known for his longevity as a player,he holds the NPB records for longest career with 29 seasons played,most consecutive seasons with at least one win with 23 and is the oldest pitcher to strike out 10 batters in a game,doing so at the age of 41 years and 11 months. In his career,he recorded 224 wins,a 3.45 ERA and 2,852 strikeouts. However,despite all his accolades,he is infamously known for having never won the Eiji Sawamura Award,given to Japan's top pitcher.
Miles Tice Mikolas,is an American professional baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers,and in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Yomiuri Giants. He was an All-Star in 2018,led the National League in wins that season,and finished sixth in NL Cy Young Award voting that year. He was also an All-Star in 2022.
Matthew Randel is an American- born Korean former professional baseball pitcher. Randel was an unusual American pitcher in that over 80% of his baseball career was played in Asia. He dropped out of college after two seasons at Lewis-Clark State College in 1999. He was invited to tryout for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks in Japan. He spent two years with the Hawks,playing mostly for their lower-tier team. He went back home to the United States in 2001,returning to baseball in 2002 in Fort Worth,Texas. The following year he returned to Japan where his career fizzled out after two years. His career was revived once again when a former teammate,Gary Rath,mentioned Randel to the Doosan Bears of the KBO League. There he was able to establish himself as a reliable starter for four seasons until an injury forced him to retire.
