The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orizaba (Latin : Dioecesis Orizabensis) (erected 15 April 2000) is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Xalapa.
Veracruz, formally Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave, officially the Estado Libre y Soberano de Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave, is one of the 31 states which, along with Mexico City, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. Located in eastern Mexico, Veracruz is bordered by seven states, which are Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo, Puebla, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco. Veracruz is divided into 212 municipalities, and its capital city is Xalapa-Enríquez.
Xalapa or Jalapa, officially Xalapa-Enríquez, is the capital city of the Mexican state of Veracruz and the name of the surrounding municipality. In the 2020 census the city reported a population of 443,063 and the municipality of which it serves as municipal seat reported a population of 488,531. The municipality has an area of 118.45 km2. Xalapa lies near the geographic center of the state and is the second-largest city in the state after the city of Veracruz to the southeast.
Orizaba is a city and municipality in the Mexican state of Veracruz. It is located 20 km west of its sister city Córdoba, and is adjacent to Río Blanco and Ixtaczoquitlán, on Federal Highways 180 and 190. The city had a 2020 census population of 120,500 and is almost coextensive with its small municipality, with only a few small areas outside the city. The municipality, with an area of 27.97 km2, had a population of 123,182. While the metropolitan area of Orizaba has a population of 462,261 as 2020.

Universidad Veracruzana is a public autonomous university located in the Mexican state of Veracruz. Established in 1944, the university is one of the most important in the southeast region of México. Its academic organization is a structure based on academic areas, schools, education programs and research institutes. Due to geographic dispersing, academic activities are coordinated by the Academic Secretariat and four Vice-Rector's Offices. José Ignacio Suárez Peredo y Bezares was a Mexican clergyman and bishop for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Xalapa. He was ordained in 1856. He was appointed bishop in 1887. He died in 1894.
Hipólito Reyes Larios was a Mexican Roman Catholic prelate. Reyes served as the first Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orizaba in Veracruz from 2000 until 2007. He was then appointed Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Xalapa, based in the capital city of Veracruz, from 2007 until his death on August 8, 2021.
