Romántico y Sabroso ("Romantic and Delicious") is the 1988 studio album released by Puerto Rican salsa group, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. The album is considered El Gran Combo's first release dominated by the distinct subgenre known as salsa romantica. It was the last album were Edgardo Morales played the drums.

Eddie Santiago is a salsa singer from Puerto Rico. He is one of the great figures of this musical genre, with popular songs such as “Me Haces Falta Tú" on Soy el Mismo, “Lluvia" on Sigo Atrevido, “Mía" on Invasión de la Privacidad y “Tú me quemas" on Atrevido y diferente.

The group received the moniker La Universidad de la Salsa in Colombia, due to the sheer number of famous salsa musicians and singers who developed their careers with it, who started with the group, or who were occasionally backed up by the band and La India.
Linda Bell Viera Caballero, better known as La India, is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter of salsa, house music and Latin pop. La India has been nominated for both Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, winning the Latin Grammy Award for Best Salsa Album for the Intensamente La India Con Canciones De Juan Gabriel album.
Pellín Rodríguez was a Salsa singer. Rodríguez was a member of the musical group El Gran Combo and toured with them all over Latin America and Europe, gaining fame and popularity as a singer. In addition to his singing capabilities, Rodríguez had great comedic abilities and participated on comedy bits on various TV shows in Puerto Rico.
Flashback is the fifth studio album by Puerto Rican reggaetón recording artist Ivy Queen, released on October 4, 2005 through Univision and on September 15, 2007 as Greatest Hits in Germany and Spain. It is often considered as a studio-compilation release due to the amount of the album being previously released material. Queen began working on Flashback after the moderate success of Real in early 2005. Featuring content dating back to 1995, when she was still a part of the all-male group The Noise, the album includes four new pieces of work all produced by Rafi Mercenario, the genre's most requested record producer at the time.
Contra la Corriente is the third studio album released by American singer Marc Anthony on October 21, 1997, by RMM Records. The album was produced by Puerto Rican musician Angel "Cucco" Peña, with most of the songs written by Panamanian composer Omar Alfanno. The album was well received by critics who praised the vocals of Anthony as well as the songs. The album produced six singles, four of which peaked on the top ten on the Hot Latin Tracks chart. Promoted by a sold-out concert in Madison Square Garden, Contra la Corriente became the first salsa album to reach number one on the Top Latin Albums chart and to chart on the Billboard 200.
"A Puro Dolor" is a song recorded by Puerto Rican band Son by Four. It was written by Omar Alfanno and released as the first single of the second studio album of the band in 2000. The chart features only full-length albums and, like all Billboard album charts, is based on sales. The information is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan from a sample representing more than 90% of the U.S. music retail market, including not only music stores and music departments at electronics and department stores but also direct-to-consumer transactions and Internet sales. A limited number of verifiable sales at concert venues is also tabulated. Innovations by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico was the first album to reach number-one in the chart on June 29, 1985. Up until May 21, 2005, reggaeton albums appeared on the chart. After the installation of the Latin Rhythm Albums chart, reggaeton titles could no longer appear on the Tropical Albums chart. By removing reggaeton albums from the Tropical Albums chart, it opened slots for re-entries and debuts. American bachata group Aventura claimed the top spot on the Tropical Albums chart, which marked the first time since the issue dated November 6, 2004 that a reggaeton album was not at the number-one spot. The current number-one album on the chart is Todavia Me Amas: Lo Mejor de Aventura by Aventura.

Una Navidad con Gilberto, is the title of a Christmas album released by Puerto-Rican singer Gilberto Santa Rosa on October 14, 2008, by Sony BMG Norte. It was the first time that Gilberto released his own Christmas album. He previous collaborated with various artists on the Tarjeta de Navidad by Sony Discos. In addition, he collaborated with Puerto Rican salsa group El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico on their album, Asi es Nuestra Navidad. The album peaked at number-six in the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and number twenty-two on the Billboard Holiday Albums chart. It remained on the Top Latin Album charts for thirteen weeks. The album reached number-one on the Tropical Albums where it spent three weeks on the spot. At the Latin Grammy Awards of 2009, the album received a Latin Grammy Award for "Best Traditional Tropical Album".
Colección Romántica is a compilation album by Dominican songwriter and musician Juan Luis Guerra and 4.40. It was released in November 21, 2000 and February 6, 2001 in the United States by Karen Records.It is a dual album compilation including 20 of the group's classic songs remastered and re-recorded as ballads. The album also contained unaltered original versions of their softer songs, like acoustic ballads or bachatas. It would become Guerra's last album released under the Dominican independent music label Karen Records, as his later albums would be released under Vene Music and subsequently under EMI music and Capitol Latin.

"Contra la Corriente" is a song by American singer Marc Anthony from his third studio album of the same name (1997). It was released in 1998 by RMM and served as the album's fifth single. The song was written by Omar Alfanno, with co-production handled by Ángel "Cucco" Peña and Anthony. "Contra la Corriente" is a salsa song, that lyrically recalls a "good love from the past."
