Ron Cretney was born in Douglas and educated in Hanover Street School and Douglas High School before leaving the Island to train as a teacher at the Chester Diocesan Training College. He served in the Royal Artillery from 1942 to 1946 and saw duty in both India and Burma. On coming back from army service Ron returned to the classroom and following a few years teaching on the Wirral came back to the Isle of Man to teach in Rushen, Ballaugh, Willaston and Onchan primary schools, retiring as a headmaster.
Ron was elected to Onchan Village Commissioners in 1977, serving as their chairman in 1983. He was elected to the House of Keys for Onchan in the 1988 By Election, beating political heavyweight Edgar Mann and became Minister of Education in 1990, serving until 1991, when he retired from Tynwald.
He was a member of the Onchan Youth Club Management Committee, chaired the Onchan Silver Band and St George's AFC. He died in 2002.

He was a Member of the House of Keys for the Manx Labour Party, representing Douglas South from 1985. He has been a member of the upper house, the Legislative Council since 2015.
Peter Karran is a Manx politician, who is a former leader of the Liberal Vannin Party and former Minister of Education and Children. He was a Member of the House of Keys for Middle, and then for Onchan, from 1985 to 2016.

The Liberal Vannin Party is a political party in the Isle of Man. It was founded in 2006 by Peter Karran, then an Independent MHK for Onchan. Karran had been, until 2004, a member of the Manx Labour Party. The "Vannin" in the party name is a form of the name of the Isle of Man in the native Manx Gaelic language, while "Liberal" is a reference to the general political position of the party. The party is currently led by Lawrie Hooper MHK.
Adrian John Earnshaw MHK is a Manx politician, who was the Minister of Home Affairs in the Isle of Man Government and a Member of the House of Keys for Onchan.
The King George V Bowl is a multi-use stadium in Douglas, Isle of Man, and the home of F.C. Isle of Man. With a capacity of approximately 3,000 seats, a third of which are under cover, and a viewing platform for disabled users, it is the largest stadium on the Island. The Bowl also serves as the home of the Isle of Man Football Association, Isle of Man official football team and Ellan Vannin football team.

William Mackay Malarkey was a Manx politician, who was elected Liberal Vannin MHK for Douglas South but later defected from the party and sat as an independent. In the 2011 general election he lost his seat to Liberal Vannin candidate Kate Beecroft. He was re-elected at a by-election in May 2015 as an independent candidate, and retained his seat for Douglas South in September 2016.
