Marie-José Pérec is a retired French track and field sprinter who specialised in the 200 and 400 metres and is a three-time Olympic gold medalist.

Bruno Marie-Rose is a retired sprinter from France. He also set a world indoor record for 200 metres in 1987 with a time of 20.36 seconds to win the gold medal at the European Indoor Championships. He earned a silver medal at the 1991 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games as a member of French 4 × 100 m relay teams.

Audrey Lacroix is a retired Canadian competitive swimmer from Montreal, Quebec. She is the Canadian record-holder in the 200-metre butterfly. She is a former world record-holder in the short-course 4x100-metre medley relay along with teammates Katy Murdoch, Annamay Pierse and Victoria Poon. She was a member of the Canadian team that finished 8th in the 4x100-metre freestyle relay and in 7th place in the 4x100-metre medley relay at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She won the gold medal in 200-metre butterfly at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. and a bronze in the women's 4x100-metre medley relay. She also swam in the 100-metre butterfly final, finishing seventh with a time of 58.78.
Anne Marie Malone is a retired Canadian female long-distance runner. She competed for her native country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. There she placed 17th in the women's marathon. She set her personal best in the classic distance (2:33.00) in 1984. She also represented Canada at the 1982 World Cross Country Championships, where she placed 39th and the team placed 5th. At the 1983 World Cross Country Championships, she place 16th, and team Canada took the bronze medal in the team competition with a score of 53 points. On both teams Anne Marie was the third placing runner for Canada.
Marie-Philip Poulin-Nadeau is a Canadian ice hockey forward, currently with the PWHPA and who serves as captain of the Canadian national team. A three-time Olympic and three-time World champion with the Canadian national team, Poulin famously scored the game-winning goal in the gold medal games in three out of four of the Olympics in which she competed, for which she was dubbed Captain Clutch by her teammates and the media. Following another game-winning goal at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship, she completed an unprecedented "golden goal hat trick" at major international championships. Since 2015 she has served as the captain of Team Canada, leading them to a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics and a gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
For the 1984 Summer Olympics, a total of thirty-one venues were used. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Rose Bowl, two venues previously used for the 1932 Summer Olympics, were used for the 1984 Games. Between the 1932 and the 1984 Summer Olympics, the expansion of professional sports teams assisted in the growth of the facilities that would be used for the 1984 events. Only two new permanent venues were constructed, both using corporate sponsorship, though neither were mentioned in the official Olympic report. Many other venues had temporary adjustments and returned to their normal usage once the 1984 Olympics were completed. Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto and the Rose Bowl later served as venues for the Super Bowl, the FIFA World Cup, and the FIFA Women's World Cup.
The Marshall Islands marked its second consecutive Olympiad, at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from July 27 to August 12, 2012. The Olympian delegation included two men and two women, one male and one female athlete in athletics and one male and one female athlete in swimming. Middle-distance runner Haley Nemra was honored as the national flag bearer at the opening ceremony. The Marshall Islands continued their streak of bringing home no medals.
