Roshan Kushwaha is an Indian Administrative Service officer, who served as 35th District Magistrate of Begusarai district of Bihar. Kushwaha was appointed by Government of Bihar in the district in the year 2022, replacing the incumbent District Magistrate, Arvind Kumar Verma. He is primarily known for his role in implementing the developmental initiatives of the Nitish Kumar government under the ambitious Saat Nishchay Yojna. [1] [2] [3] Previously, he also served as the District Magistrate of Bhojpur district, the position to which he was appointed after replacing incumbent DM, Sanjiv Kumar. Before being appointed as DM of Bhojpur, Kushwaha was serving as DDC of Vaishali district. [4]

Career

During his tenure as the District Magistrate of Begusarai, Kushwaha worked for improving the medical facilities in the district. The steps such as establishment of In vitro fertilisation centres were taken to convert the district into a hub of medical facilities. [5] He also participated in drive to make people aware of the importance of Golden Hour, after an accident. In his capacity as District Magistrate of Begusarai, he awarded those good samaritans, who helped a victim of accident without waiting for the authorities to arrive on the scene. [6] During his stint as DM of Begusarai, a protest by students of ANM Nursing School took place. The trainees were protesting against lack of trainers in their institute, which was hindering their training. As per news reports, they protested twice, and earlier DM Kushwaha had ensured them of action on his part to fulfill their demands. However, when the demands were not fulfilled within four days, protests restarted once again. In this incident, the anguished trainees were reported to be involved in stone pelting at the convoy of DM. [7] In 2022, a major bridge collapse accident took place in Sahebpur Kamal block of the Begusarai district. The bridge was yet to be inaugurated, but was in use by pedestrians, and small vehicles were also allowed on it. Although, no one was harmed in this incident, the collapse resulted in inconvenience to the locals in commuting from one side of the Burhi Gandak river to other. Kushwaha ordered a probe into the incident, to find out the causes behind the accident, acting in his capacity as head of the district. [8]

He started working for proper implementation of ambitious 'Saat Nishchay Yojna' of Government of Bihar in 2019, while he was working as District Magistrate of Bhojpur. In the same year, he initiated a panchayat level connectivity program in Piro block of Bhojpur district to ensure that the targets under the program are delivered to the people at ground level. He instructed the local officials and stressed upon the two pillars out of seven primary components of scheme. These included, availability of clean drinking water for all and pavement of rural roads for swift connectivity. [9] His thrust on proper implementation of 'Saat Nishchay Yojna' continued during his stint as Begusarai DM. In this district, he primarily worked in the area of skill development, urban solid waste management and ensuring irrigation facility for each crop field in the district. To avoid flooding during rainy season, he also worked with Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (BUIDCO) to develop storm water drainage system for the cities. [10] [11] Previously, during his stint as Bhojpur DM, a new bridge over Koilwar river was inaugurated for the ease of communication. [12]

After the relations between Nitish and Kushwaha normalized, Upendra Kushwaha merged RLSP into JDU on March 14th 2021, with this, the party ceased to exit.

Kushwaha is a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district, Bihar, and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. Later, he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP), which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023, Kushwaha resigned from all positions in Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Morcha due to his political problems with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar.

New Koilwar Bridge, at Koilwar in Bhojpur is a 1.52 km long, 6-lane wide road bridge over the Sone river. It connects Arrah with Patna, the capital of Bihar state in India and also carries Buxar-Arrah-Patna national highway (NH-922). New Koilwar Bridge is named after Indian mathematician and Padma Shri awardee Vashishtha Narayan Singh (1946–2019). New Koilwar Bridge is 500 metres north and parallel to the existing 2-lane wide Koilwar Bridge. The construction work of all 6-lanes completed and Bridge is fully opened to public on 14 May 2022.

Rajeev Kumar Singh is a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Tarapur constituency in the Bihar Legislative Assembly in India. He is a member of Janata Dal (United). He has been elected as the MLA on 2 November 2021. Singh got the ticket from Janata Dal (United) amidst the confusion over allocation of Tarapur constituency to Rohit Chaudhary, the younger brother of leader of opposition in Bihar Legislative Council, Samrat Chaudhary. The Tarapur constituency was the stronghold of Shakuni Choudhury, who had influence over Kushwaha voters, who are dominant in this assembly constituency. Jalpura Tapa is a village and gram panchayat in Koilwar block, Bhojpur district in the Indian state of Bihar. Situated close to the Sone River, it is a large village with more than 12,000 residents. Population-wise it is the largest village and area-wise, it is the 2nd-largest village of Koilwar block.

Chandan Kumar Kushwaha is an IPS officer, serving in Bihar. He has previously served as Superintendent of Police (SP) for Bihar's capital city Patna. Kushwaha was later transferred to Banka district as Superintendent of Police. Before being appointed as city SP of Patna, he was serving as SP for the Rohtas district. He was later shifted to Patna, replacing Shivdeep Lande as police superintendent. In 2018, he was raised to the post of Commandant of Home Guards, as a result of which he was recalled from Banka. As per reports, in his sixteen-month service as the head of the police force of Banka, he took stringent measures to reduce the level of crime in the district. He has also served as city SP for Gaya. Kushwaha was investigation incharge of several high profile cases like 2013 Bodhagaya serial blasts and 2016 Bihar Toppers Scam.

Jagdish Prasad Kushwaha was an Ayurveda practitioner and politician from Jharkhand, India. He was a leader of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, considered as one of the early leaders of Sangh, who played significant role in establishing it in Kodarma Lok Sabha constituency and Giridih region in unified Bihar. Kushwaha was elected as Pramukh of Jamua Bloc in Jharkhand for multiple terms and assumed this position until his death in 1999. He was the elder brother of Rati Lal Prasad Verma, six term Member of Indian Parliament from Kodarma Lok Sabha constituency and father of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly member, Jai Prakash Verma.

Basawan Prasad Bhagat is an Indian politician based in Bihar, who was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly twice from Kurhani Assembly constituency of the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. Bhagat also served as minister in Government of Bihar under Lalu Prasad Yadav twice. He was allotted Ministry of Prison Affairs and Ministry of Law.
