Bijaya Kumar Maurya or Vijay Kumar Maurya is an Indian Police Services officer. He is currently serving as the Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police's Home Guards wing. He is a 1990 batch IPS officer, who has previously served as Additional Director General (logistics) in the Uttar Pradesh Police as well. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] Maurya was given additional charge of Director General (Home Guards) in August 2022, while he was serving as Director General (logistics). [6] [7]

Biography

Maurya is an alumnus of Harvard University. He is the first police officer from Uttar Pradesh, who has completed Masters in Policy Management from Harvard University of United States. While serving as Additional Director General for the Railways, he was awarded by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Maurya has also worked with United Nations for a peace meeting program. Later, he was deployed to work with Indo-Tibetan Border Police in the capacity of Inspector General. During his tenure in ITBP, he served primarily in North West Frontier Province of India, at Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. [8]

The Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway or National Expressway 6 (NE-6), is an under construction 63 km long, 6-lane wide(expandable to 8) access controlled expressway in India's Uttar Pradesh. The expressway will connect Lucknow and Kanpur and will run parallel to NH-27 which connects Kanpur and Lucknow with a distance of about 85 km (53 mi) between existing and proposed parallel roads. She is the first woman to assume the post of SSP of Lucknow in the history of Uttar Pradesh. She has also served as Deputy Inspector General in National Human Rights Commission. In 2021, she was raised to the post of Deputy Inspector General of National Security Guards. Saini has also served in Etawah, the hometown of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. She gained nationwide fame for her role in investigating Amit Kumar Kidney Racket case. Saini is an alumnus of Delhi School of Economics, and she is a gold medalist from there.
