JSC Roszheldorproject is a Russian company which carries out design and survey works for construction, overhaul and renovation projects in railway, industrial, social and cultural spheres, for construction and renovation of commercial property and residential constructions. [2] [3]

The company was formed in 2006 through the merger of design and research institutes, which were formerly a part of JSC Russian Railways (in December, 2014 the company changed the type of business entity from OJSC to JSC according to Russian legislation [4] ). The institutes of Roszheldorproject perform the full range of works for the integrated design of railway infrastructure and socially significant facilities. The company takes an active part in the implementation of global high speed rail project. Roszeldorproject was the general designer for a number of infrastructure transport projects that were key projects of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. [4]

The Federal Freight is a railway business established in Russia by Russian Railways, as part of plans to open up the rail transport market in Russia. A fleet of 180 thousand freight wagons will be transferred to the new company from RZD. It will have a share capital of 46.4 billion rubles. The company is headquartered in Ekaterinburg.

The Moscow Central Circle or MCC, and marked in a strawberry red/white color is a 54-kilometre-long (34 mi) orbital urban/metropolitan rail line that encircles historical Moscow. The line is rebuilt from the Little Ring of the Moscow Railway, opened to passengers on 10 September 2016 and is operated by the Moscow Government owned company MKZD through the Moscow Metro, with the state-run Russian Railways selected as the operation subcontractor. The infrastructure, trackage and platforms are owned and managed by Russian Railways, while most station buildings are owned by MKZD.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Northern Latitudinal Railway</span> Railway under construction in Russia

The Northern Latitudinal Railway is a Russian railway line previously under construction in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. It is 707 kilometres long, along the Obskaya - Salekhard - Nadym - Novy Urengoy - Korotchaevo route, which should link the western and eastern parts of the autonomous region, linking the Northern Railway in the east with Sverdlovsk Oblast. The project is run jointly by the Government of Russia, the governments of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, PJSC Gazprom, JSC Russian Railways, and Development Corporation JSC. The construction coordinator of the railway is the Federal Agency for Railway Transport (Roszheldor). Construction of the NLR is planned to be carried out from 2018 to 2022. The estimated volume of traffic at completion is 24 million tons. Initially, the highway was supposed to be laid by 2015, but due to the lack of a budget solution, the project completion dates were repeatedly postponed. In February 2017, the construction was announced to be completed in 2023. The project cost was estimated at 239 billion Rubles. In November 2022, it was announced that the government had suspended this project in favor of expanding rail eastward.

Vladimir Ivanovich Starstenko was a Russian politician, statesman, economist, railway operator, and engineer who had served as the Head of the Moscow Railway from 2002 to 2009. He was also the Head of the West Siberian Railways from 1997 to 1999, and again from 1999 to 2002.
