Rotimi Adelola (born 15 August 1958) is a Nigerian psychologist and film producer. [1] Under the Administration of Olusegun Mimiko, he was appointed secretary to the Ondo State Government, [2] a position which he held from 2009 to 2017. [3] As a Psychologist, he worked across the following sectors: academia, manufacturing, consultancy, financial services, oil & gas and the public sector. [4]

Early life and education

Rotimi Adelola was born on 15 August 1958, at Ondo City in Ondo State, Nigeria. Although he was born in Ondo City, his ancestral origin is Araromi-Obu and he is a Prince of the ancient kingdom. He holds a Ph.D. in Organisational Psychology from the University of Ibadan. [5] Earlier, he obtained M.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Lagos and a B.Sc degree (2nd class upper) in Social Sciences from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). Dr. Rotimi Adelola is an alumnus of the International Development Ireland, Dublin, the London Management School and the Harvard-Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University USA.

Filmmaking

Immediately after leaving office in 2017, he attended Mainframe Media And Film Institute owned by Tunde Kelani [6] [7] in Abeokuta, Nigeria and he was trained as a Film Producer. [8] His production studio, NUMBER 9 Film Studio [9] released his second movie, The New Patriots , on 11 June 2021 in Nigeria. [10] [11]

Olusegun Kokumo Agagu ; 16 February 1948 – 13 September 2013) was a Nigerian politician who was governor of Ondo State in Nigeria from 29 May 2003 until February 2009, when a court voided his re-election as governor on account of electoral irregularities. He was replaced as governor by Olusegun Mimiko, his political rival, based on a court injunction. He was a member of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He served as the 16th and fifth civilian governor of Ondo State, the first two-term governor of Ondo State, and the first Labour Party governor in Nigeria. He is a member of Nigeria Federal House of Representatives holding assignment for Ondo East/Ondo West federal constituency of Nigeria's western state of Ondo. In 2014, President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Makinde National Board Member of Nigeria Literacy Commission and was on the assignment until 2015 when President Jonathan and People's Democratic Party, PDP lost federal power to then opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.

The New Patriots is a 2020 Nigerian political drama film directed by Adebayo Tijani and Terry Ayebo. The film was produced by Rotimi Adelola, from a screenplay by Niji Akanni and translated to Yoruba by Prof. Mrs. Oluwayemisi Adebowale. The story was written by Rotimi Adelola, inspired by Patriots and Sinners, a novel written by Nnenna Ihebom. The script contributors include Tunde Kelani, Rotimi Adelola, Niji Akanni, Muritala Sule, film director Dami Taiwo and Jibola Soyele. The film received positive reviews from critics and was screened at several international film festivals

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2020 Ondo State gubernatorial election</span> 2020 gubernatorial election in Ondo State, Nigeria

The 2020 Ondo State gubernatorial election was held on 10 October 2020. Incumbent APC governor Rotimi Akeredolu won re-election for a second term, defeating PDP Eyitayo Jegede, ZLP Agboola Ajayi and several minor party candidates.

The 2012 Ondo State gubernatorial election occurred on October 20, 2012. Incumbent governor, LP's Olusegun Mimiko won election for a second term, defeating other party candidates. Mimiko received 43.79% of the total vote and won in 13 of the state's 18 LGAs, closely followed by PDP's Olusola Oke who won in two LGAs with 26.25% of total votes, while the ACN candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, who won in three LGAs came third with 24.15% of the votes. Mimiko becomes the first Incumbent governor of Ondo State to be re-elected.
