After his previous album, As Raw as Ever , received positive reviews, his good spell continued as Rough & Ready, Vol. 1 likewise received positive reviews and enjoyed some commercial success, reaching #71 in the UK and #82 in Germany.

Shabba Ranks is a Jamaican dancehall musician. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he was one of the most popular Jamaican musicians in the world. Throughout his prominence in his home country as a dancehall artist, he gained popularity in North America with his studio album, Just Reality, in 1990. He released two studio albums, As Raw as Ever and X-tra Naked, which both won a Grammy Award as Best Reggae Album in 1992 and 1993, respectively. He is notoriously popular for "Mr. Loverman" and "Ting-A-Ling", which were globally acclaimed and deemed his signature songs.

It was released in 1992 and 1993 as a single, reaching number 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the UK Singles Chart, as well as the top 20 in France, Germany and Ireland. In 2003, Q Magazine ranked "Mr. Loverman" at number 866 in their list of the "1001 Best Songs Ever".

Sidney Mills is a British Jamaican musician, performing mostly within the reggae genre and best known as a member of the roots reggae band Steel Pulse. The song's title refers to Jamaican dancehall musician Shabba Ranks, who makes a cameo appearance in the song's music video and appears on the remix. Louis Grandison, known professionally as Dexta Daps, is a Jamaican reggae singer known for his dancehall songs as well as ballads. His songs include the 2014 ballad Morning Love, 2015's 7Eleven and the 2015 song Shabba Madda Pot. Following up on his singles, he launched his debut album Intro in 2017 with an erotic short film that received more than 1.6 million views on YouTube. He performed at Reggae Sumfest in 2017. He's been in various collaborations including with M.I.A. (rapper) and Blakkman. In 2017, reggae artist D'Angel released the song Whipped as a response to Daps' song Owner.
Humpin' Around the World Tour was the third concert tour by American recording artist, Bobby Brown. The tour was to promote his third album Bobby. The outing started in Charleston, West Virginia on December 29, visiting several cities in North America and overseas in Australia, Europe and Asia.
