"Rough Day" is a song by Australian recording artist Paulini, taken from her second studio album, Superwoman (2006). It was written by Bridget Benenate, Matthew Gerrard and Franne Golde, while the production was handled by Audius Mtawarira. "Rough Day" was written by Bridget Benenate, Matthew Gerrard and Franne Golde, while the production was handled by Audius Mtawarira. [3] The song was recorded in Los Angeles, California. [1] It was sent to Australian radio stations on 5 December 2005, and released as a CD single on 22 January 2006. [2] A writer for Destra Media described "Rough Day" as "a carefree and contagious party starter" that showcases "the sheer class of Paulini's vocal performance". [1] The song debuted and peaked on the ARIA Singles Chart at number 26 on 23 January 2006. [4] "Rough Day" had a better impact on the ARIA Dance Chart, where it peaked at number three. [5]

Music video

The accompanying music video for "Rough Day" was directed by twin brothers Jonathan and Josh Baker. [1] The video features Paulini in the kitchen as she gets ready for work, in a hairdressing salon with her friends, at a bus stop and then on the dancefloor wearing a leopard print dress. [6] A writer for Destra Media described the video as "an absolutely stellar and very groovy retro styled". [1]

Paulini Fijian-Australian singer and songwriter

Pauline Curuenavuli, known professionally as Paulini, is a Fijian-Australian singer and songwriter. Born in Suva, Paulini moved to Sydney with her family at the age of four. She rose to fame in 2003 as a contestant on the first season of Australian Idol and placed fourth in the competition. Paulini subsequently signed a recording contract with Sony BMG Australia and released her debut studio album One Determined Heart (2004), which debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified platinum. The album included the platinum single "Angel Eyes", which spent three consecutive weeks at number one on the ARIA Singles Chart. Paulini received two ARIA No. 1 Chart Awards for both the album and single.

Audius Tonderai Mtawarira is a Zimbabwean singer-songwriter and record producer, who often works mononymously as Audius. From 1996 to 2012 he lived in Australia. At the APRA Music Awards of 2009 he was co-winner of Urban Work of the Year for writing "Running Back" with its singer, Jessica Mauboy, and with American rapper, Sean Ray Mullins.

Anise Arsalon Khoshmashrab is an Australian "recording artist", record producer, and songwriter known by their stage name Anise K. In 2012 they was signed to Sony Music Australia, and later in 2014 signed with Cobalt Music and Warner Music Group.
