Royal Chocolate (foaled 1970 in Ontario) was a Canadian Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1973 Queen's Plate, the oldest continuous race in North America and Canada's most prestigious horse race. [1]
Royal Chocolate was bred and raced by Jack Stafford's Stafford Farms of King City, Ontario. [2] He was sired by Amber Morn whose French sire Ambiorix stood at Claiborne Farm and who was a son of the important three-time French Champion sire, Tourbillon. Royal Chocolate's dam Rocket Shot, was a granddaughter of the influential sire, Princequillo.
Royal Chocolate was conditioned for racing by future by Canadian Racing Hall of Fame trainer, Gil Rowntree.
During his career, he competed at distances from five to fourteen furlongs but is best known for winning Canada's most prestigious race in 1973, the mile and a quarter (10 furlongs) Queen's Plate. In the ensuing second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown series, he ran third to stablemate Tara Road in the Prince of Wales Stakes on the turf at Fort Erie Racetrack
Retired to stud duty after a successful 1976 racing season, as a sire Royal Chocolate met with reasonable success. Among his offspring, Gone to Royalty was a multiple stakes winner. His last foals were born in 1994.
L'Enjoleur was a Canadian Thoroughbred race horse. Bred and owned by prominent Montreal businessman Jean-Louis Lévesque, L'Enjoleur was sired by U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee, Buckpasser, a son of another Hall of Famer, Tom Fool. He was out of the racing mare Fanfreluche, a daughter of the 20th Century's most influential sire, Northern Dancer.

Swynford Stakes is a discontinued Canadian Thoroughbred horse race held annually from 1956 through 2016. It was first run at Greenwood Raceway as a race for horses aged three and older. In 1967 it was moved to Woodbine Racetrack where it was changed to a race for two-year-olds. It received Grade 3 status for 1999 and 2000.

Canadiana (1950–1971) was the first Canadian-bred racehorse to earn more than $100,000 Canadian. She was bred by E. P. Taylor at his National Stud near Oshawa, Ontario. Sired by Taylor's stallion, Chop Chop who would go on to sire three more Queen's Plate winners, her dam Iribelle was also owned by Taylor. Canadiana's British-born damsire Osiris was the Leading sire in Canada in 1938, 1940, 1942, and 1947.

Titled Hero was a Canadian Thoroughbred racehorse. Bred by renowned Canadian horseman, E. P. Taylor, his sire Canadian Champ and his grandsire Windfields were both Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame inductees. Out of the mare Countess Angela, his damsire was Bull Page, the 1951 Canadian Horse of the Year and the leading sire in Canada in 1958. Titled Hero was purchased for $15,000 in 1964 by Peter K. Marshall at the annual Windfields Farm yearling sale.
Windfields (1943–1971) was a Canadian Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse who was the first stakes race winner bred by E. P. Taylor and for whom he named his world-famous Windfields Farm.

Chop Chop (1940-1963) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who was inducted in the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame. He was sired by Flares, a son of U.S. Triple Crown winner Gallant Fox and a full brother to U.S. Triple Crown winner Omaha. Flares raced in England with considerable success for owner William Woodward Sr., counting the Ascot Gold Cup, Champion Stakes and Princess of Wales's Stakes among his wins.
Gone to Royalty is a Canadian Thoroughbred race horse owned by Pierre-Louis Lévesque, son of Quebec businessman and one of Canada's preeminent racehorse owners, the late Jean-Louis Lévesque. Gone to Royalty was trained by Jacques Dumas. He was sired by Royal Chocolate out of Bon Debarras, and is half brother to Eternal Search, the 1981 Canadian Champion Sprint Horse and Canadian Champion Older Female Horse of 1982 and 1983.
