Rukiya Bernard (born January 20, 1983) is a Canadian actress, producer and interior designer. She is known for her role as Doc in Syfy's Van Helsing , [1] The Cabin in the Woods (2012), The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) and Stuck (2007).
Rukiya Bernard was born in Toronto, Ontario, [2] to Nyakiringa Magugu, an African art store owner, and Gilbert Bernard, a car wash owner. From a very young age, Rukiya’s parents immersed her in sport and art programming. She took part in basketball and track while studying classical ballet, karate and piano. She was accepted into Ryerson University’s theatre program from which she graduated with honours. [2]
Rukiya's first job was the supporting role of Sophie Newman in Ernest Dickerson’s award-winning Our America opposite Josh Charles, Irma P. Hall and Mykelti Williamson. [2] Rukiya has appeared in TV shows including SyFy's Van Helsing , [3] The CW’s Supernatural , A&E’s The Returned, [2] USA Network’s Fairly Legal , Hallmark’s The Gourmet Detective, NBC’s Eureka , [2] Showtime’s The L Word, [2] SyFy’s Sanctuary and SGU Stargate Universe, BBC America’s Intruders and Lifetime’s Witches Of The East End. [2] She has also appeared in The Cabin In The Woods , Stuck and That Burning Feeling.
Rukiya is an interior designer [4] and starred on HGTV’s reality TV show The Stagers for two seasons. [5]
Rukiya is married to P. J. Prinsloo, they have two children. [2]

Joe Rogan Questions Everything is an American television series that premiered on SyFy in 2013. The series followed entertainer and stand-up comedian Joe Rogan, as well as co-host Duncan Trussell, as they investigated claims about paranormal and mysterious subjects like Bigfoot, psychic ability and UFOs. It was described as a "comedy/reality/debunking series" as well as a "visual podcast show", and was similar in content to Rogan's podcast: "if you've ever listened to Rogan's podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, you know the kind of stuff this show will be focusing on". The show's form was based on a presentation of the topic following up with interviews with experts and members of the public that claimed anecdotal evidence for the cases. Various field research trips were also done in an attempt to gather evidence. Through the series, Joe Rogan took the position of a skeptic, with the Mansfield News-Journal saying that he "brings a helpful blend — sometimes skeptical, often hopeful and open-minded". The show was loosely based on conversations and topics from the Joe Rogan Experience, with some video out-takes. Some topic presentations and general discussions were set in a podcast studio. Opposite Worlds was an American reality game show that originally aired on the cable channel Syfy. The format of the show was based on the successful Chilean series Mundos Opuestos which aired from 2012 to 2013 on the national free-to-air channel Canal 13. The series revolved around a group of strangers divided into two teams, and made to live in a house divided by "future" and "past" themes. The teams competed in weekly challenges to determine where they would live. One contestant, known as the Decider, selected two contestants to compete in a challenge, with the loser being eliminated from the game. The winner of the series, determined after six weeks, won a $100,000 prize. The series was hosted by Luke Tipple. The show premiered on January 21, 2014 and aired on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the latter being a live elimination episode. The show was cancelled after one season.
