The Rupandehi Challengers (often abbreviated as RC) are a franchise cricket team representing the city of Rupandehi in the Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL). Founded in 2017 one of the six founding teams of the DPL, the Rupandehi franchise is owned by Suraj Upreti. Shakti Gauchan is the captain and the strategic player of the team.

Franchise history

The Dhangadhi Premier League began its tournament in 2018 with 6 teams from representing different cities and districts of Nepal. Rupandehi Challengers was part of the founding team to participate in the DPL 2017. [1] [2]

2017 DPL season

Rupandehi Challengers finished 3rd in the tournament despite topping the preliminary group stage and qualifying to the playoffs. RC lost both of its playoff match and thus missed an opportunity to qualify for the finals. [3]

The 2018 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament that took place during March 2018 in Zimbabwe. It formed the final part of the Cricket World Cup qualification process for the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. The top two teams, Afghanistan national cricket team and the West Indies, qualified for the World Cup, joining the hosts and the seven teams who had already qualified through their ranking in the ICC ODI Championship. Afghanistan won the tournament, beating the West Indies by 7 wickets in the final. The Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL) was a franchise Twenty20 cricket league in Nepal. The league was founded by the Dhangadhi Cricket Academy and Sudur Pashchim Academy in 2017.

The 2017 season of Dhangadhi Premier League was the debut season of the Dhangadhi Premier League. The tournament featured six teams. The season began on 9 April 2017 with the final match being held on 22 April 2017.

Team Chauraha Dhangadhi, often called Chauraha Dhangadhi is one of the six franchises competing on Dhangadhi Premier League. It was led by the national cricket team captain, Paras Khadka.The team represents the city of Dhangadhi in Kailali district of Nepal, and won the 2017 Dhangadhi Premier League Title, receiving a prize of 1.5 million Nepalese rupees. In the second season they defended their trophy beating Biratnagar kings. The team was led by the Nepali fast bowler Sompal Kami.The team are not participating in the 3rd edition of the Dhangadhi Premier League. The team owner is Raj Kumar Shrestha.

The 2017 Everest Premier League, also abbreviated as 2017 EPL, and branded as TVS EPL 2017, was the second edition of the Everest Premier League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The tournament was scheduled to be held from 18 December 2017 to 30 December 2017. The tournament featured six teams and their names were based on the cities.

The 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament that was held in Malaysia from 29 August to 6 September 2018. The event served as the qualifier for the 2018 Asia Cup. The top two teams from the group stage met in the final, with the winner progressing to the 2018 Asia Cup. The fixture between the United Arab Emirates and Nepal on 30 August 2018 was a One Day International (ODI) match. It was the first time both sides had played each other in an ODI match, with the UAE going on to win the fixture by 78 runs.

The 2017–18 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League was an edition of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, a List A cricket competition held in Bangladesh. The 2021 Everest Premier League, also known as EPL4 or Bajaj Pulsar EPL for sponsorship reasons, was the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The event was initially scheduled for December 2019, before being postponed multiple times. Lalitpur Patriots were the defending champions, having won their first title in 2018, but were eliminated in the group stage after finishing fifth.

Men's cricket at the 2019 South Asian Games was held in Kirtipur, Nepal from 3 to 9 December 2019. The men's tournament featured under-23 squads from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and senior squads from Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal. India and Pakistan did not participate.

The 2020 Manmohan Memorial National One-Day Cricket Tournament was the second edition of one of the main domestic 50-over competitions in Nepal, alongside the Prime Minister One Day Cup. The tournament featured sides representing the seven provinces of Nepal plus three departments, the host club and a Malaysian XI. This was the second edition of the tournament after the first was held in January 2019. The Malaysian national side played a series of one-day matches against Nepal after the conclusion of the tournament.

The Bangladesh Premier League 2022, also known as BPL Season 8 or Bangabandhu BPL 2022 presented by BBS Cables and powered by Walton, was the eighth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the top-level professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh, organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The season was scheduled to start from March 2021. However, the tournament was postponed and rescheduled to be held from 21 January to 18 February 2022.

The 2020–21 Nepal Tri-Nation Series was a Twenty20 international cricket tournament that took place in April 2021 in Nepal. The participating teams were Nepal, Malaysia and the Netherlands. The matches were all played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The tournament was played in a double round-robin format, followed by a final between the top two sides.

The 2021–22 Nepal T20I Tri-Nation Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Nepal from 28 March to 4 April 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Nepal along with Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. The matches were played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. On 12 March 2022, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed all the fixtures.

The Nepal cricket team toured Kenya in August and September 2022 to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches and three 50-over matches. This was the first series in charge for Nepal's new head coach Manoj Prabhakar, after Pubudu Dassanayake resigned in July 2022. This series was Nepal cricket team's first visit to Kenya. This was also the first international cricket at the Gymkhana Club Ground for 10 years.

The 2022 Nepal T20 League, was inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The tournament was played from 24 December 2022 to 11 January 2023.
