Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, programming, research, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.
Shabby chic is a style of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. At the same time, a soft, opulent, yet cottage-style decor, often with an affected feel is emphasized to differentiate it from genuine period decor.
Industrial style or industrial chic refers to an aesthetic trend in interior design that takes clues from old factories and industrial spaces that in recent years have been converted to lofts and other living spaces. Live edge or natural edge is a style of furniture where the furniture designer or craftsperson incorporates the natural edge of the wood into the design of the piece. Live edge furniture often incorporates gnarly wood, such as Alligator Juniper, mesquite, Vachellia nilotica and salvaged wood that could not be used in conventional woodworking. There are special challenges involved in working with this type of wood, and several methods for live edge have developed. Some leave the natural holes and cracks in the wood while other artists fill them with resins.

My Week with Marilyn is a 2011 drama film directed by Simon Curtis and written by Adrian Hodges. Based on two books by Colin Clark, it depicts the making of the 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl, which starred Marilyn Monroe (Williams) and Laurence Olivier (Branagh). The film concerns the week during the shooting of the 1957 film when Monroe was escorted around London by Clark (Redmayne), after her husband Arthur Miller had returned to the United States.
Mick De Giulio is an American designer widely recognized for growing and bringing distinction to kitchen interiors. His innovations also include kitchen products and furnishings. He founded his company, de Giulio Kitchen Design, in 1984, with a focus on custom residential and kitchen industry commissions in the United States and abroad. The company is headquartered in Wilmette, Illinois, with another showroom at LuxeHome in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, a shop facility in Skokie, Illinois, and a metal fabricating facility in Yale, Michigan. In 2003, De Giulio was named a Kitchen and Bath Design Leader by Interior Design magazine, and in 2005, he was recognized by Kitchen and Bath Business magazine as one of the 50 most influential people in the kitchen and bath industry over the last 50 years. He is the author of two books on kitchen design, KitchenCentric and KITCHEN and has been a frequent speaker at industry and trade events such as Kitchen/Bath Industry Show & Conference (K/BIS) NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, and Coverings. His designs have been extensively profiled in international consumer and trade magazines, as well as books, newspapers, and television (HGTV). He designed the kitchens for the Ritz-Carlton Residences in 2012, an exclusive condo development project on Chicago's Magnificent Mile.
