Brendan Ross Murray Taylor is a Zimbabwean former international cricketer and a former Zimbabwean captain,who played all formats of the game. Taylor is a right-handed batsman but is also an off spinner. In 2015,former Zimbabwe captain Alistair Campbell described Taylor as "our standout player for the last seven or eight years". He is known for his unorthodox shots especially his ability to play upper cuts over the third man and ramp shots with elegance and are often considered as his trademark signature shots. Regis Wiriranai Chakabva is a Zimbabwean cricketer and vice-captain of the team in all formats of the game. He is a right-handed wicket-keeper batter. He played through school-level cricket and started making his mark as a good batter with sound wicket-keeping abilities. He got picked to play for Zimbabwe.

This tournament was started after the Zimbabwean cricket crisis,recommended by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It is jointly sponsored by Metbank and Coca-Cola.
Calum Walter Price is a domestic and former Zimbabwean Under-19 cricketer. Along with the likes of Keegan Meth and Kyle Jarvis,he is regarded as a great future pace prospect for Zimbabwe. Richmond Mutumbami is a Zimbabwean cricketer. A wicket-keeper batsman,Mutumbami made his first-class debut as a 17-year-old against Southerns in April 2007. Six years later,in April 2013,he made his international debut in a Test match against Bangladesh. He made his Twenty20 International debut against Pakistan in May 2015.
Wellington Pedzisai Masakadza is a Zimbabwean cricketer who has played first-class and limited overs matches for the Mountaineers and the Mashonaland Eagles. He made his One Day International debut for Zimbabwe against Ireland on 9 October 2015. He made his Twenty20 International debut for Zimbabwe against Afghanistan on 26 October 2015.

The 2017–18 Logan Cup was the 24th edition of the Logan Cup,a first-class cricket competition that took place in Zimbabwe. It started on 4 October 2017 and included a new team,the Rising Stars,along with the existing four teams. Mountaineers were the defending champions.
The 2018–19 Logan Cup was the 25th edition of the Logan Cup,a first-class cricket competition in Zimbabwe,that started on 3 December 2018. The tournament featured four teams,instead of the five that took part in the previous edition,with the Rising Stars being disbanded. The other change to the 2018–19 tournament was that it was being played across six rounds,instead of ten,as per previous years. Mountaineers were the defending champions.
