Ryan Regez (born 30 January 1993) is a Swiss freestyle skier who specializes in skicross.
Regez grew up in Wengen and has Swiss-British dual citizenship and is a member of the Wengen ski club.
On 15 February 2014, Regez contested his first FIS race. He finished 40th at Watles. In January 2015, he made European Cup debut in Orcières and won the overall victory in the 2015–16 season and thus secured a place in the main squad. [1] He made his debut in the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup on 5 December in Montafon and achieved 58th place. The 2016–17 season went well, but at the penultimate race in Russia's Sunny Valley, he fell while leading in the 1/8 final and tore his cruciate ligament. [2] Despite this, he finished 30th this season and 136th overall. After this injury, he started again in the European Cup in the following season, which he won for the second time overall.
Regez surprisingly achieved his first World Cup victory on 16 February 2019 in Feldberg. The day after, he confirmed that with a third-place finish, which brought him 9th place in the 2018–19 season with 267 points. He started the 2019–20 season in third place in Val Thorens, France. [3] His second World Cup victory followed on 14 December in Montafon, and his third on 25 January 2020 in Idre He finished the season with 2nd place in ski cross and 16th in the overall World Cup, which is his best result in the World Cup so far. On 7 March 2020, he became Swiss champion in ski cross for the first time in Crans-Montana. In a tight race, he won ahead of Joos Berry and Armin Niederer. [4]
With three second places in the 2020–21 season, he nevertheless finished 7th place in the general ski cross classification because he could not compete in the last three races having contracted COVID-19 and having fractured his hand during training. [5] At the 2022 Winter Olympics, Regez becomes the new Olympic ski cross champion ahead of his compatriot Alex Fiva, the reigning world champion. [6]
Franz Klammer is a former champion alpine ski racer from Austria. Klammer dominated the downhill event for four consecutive World Cup seasons (1975–78). He was the gold medalist at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, winning the downhill at Patscherkofel by a margin of 0.33 seconds with a time of 1:45.73. He won 25 World Cup downhills, including four on the Hahnenkamm at Kitzbühel. He also holds the record for the most victories (four) on the full course at Kitzbühel.
Ivica Kostelić is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Croatia. He specialized in slalom and combined, but was also one of the few alpine World Cup ski racers able to score points in all disciplines. He is the brother of skiing champion Janica Kostelić. In his career he was coached by his father Ante Kostelić, as well as by Kristian Ghedina and Tomislav Krstičević.
Daron Louis Rahlves is a former American World Cup alpine ski racer and freestyle skier.
Bernhard Russi is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Switzerland. Born in Andermatt in the canton of Uri, he is an Olympic, World Cup, and World champion in the downhill event.
Steven Lee is an Australian alpine skier. He competed in the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympics, and had a competitive career lasting just on 25 years. He is the second of only 3 Australian skiers ever to claim victory on the Alpine World Cup circuit. He has also done sports commentating for channels 7, 9 and 10, co-owns Chill Factor magazine, and is a national selector and president of Falls Creek Race Club. He has worked in movies with Roger Moore and Jackie Chan.
Aleksei Gennadyevich Grishin is a Belarusian freestyle skier who competed at five consecutive Olympics from 1998 to 2014. He won Belarus' only medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics, a bronze in aerials. In 2010, he won the first ever Winter Olympics gold medal for his country, again in the aerials. He finished fourth in 2006 and eighth in 1998. He was the Olympic flag bearer for Belarus at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Games.
Carlo Janka is a Swiss former alpine ski racer. Born in Obersaxen, in the canton of Graubünden, he had the winter sports facilities right in front of his home. Janka has won gold medals at both the Winter Olympics and the World Championships, as well as one World Cup overall title, one discipline title and also, one unofficial alpine combined title.
Dario Cologna is a Swiss cross-country skier. He has four overall World Cup victories, four Olympic gold medals, one World Championships gold medal and four Tour de Ski victories in his career.
Alexey Yurevich Poltoranin is a Kazakh cross-country skier who has competed at the international senior level since 2004. He has three World Cup wins, one in 2010 and two in 2013. In the 2013 World Championship in Val di Fiemme he won two bronze medals. Most of his best results are in the classic technique.
Filip Flisar is a retired Slovenian freestyle skier who competed in ski cross discipline.
Fanny Smith is a Swiss freestyle skier. She represented Switzerland at the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympics. As of 2021, she has 29 victories and has won 56 podiums on the World Cup circuit. She won gold at the World Championships in Voss in 2013. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang Smith won a bronze medal.
Mikaël Kingsbury is a Canadian freestyle skier and is the most accomplished mogul skier of all time. He achieved eminence early in his career after earning the 2009–10 FIS World Cup Rookie of the Year award. He is a nine-time FIS Freestyle World Cup title-holder for both moguls and overall freestyle, owning the records for most men's Moguls World Cup titles and Overall Freestyle World Cup titles. He also owns the records for career World Cup moguls victories with 71, and consecutive Freestyle World Cup event wins with 13. He is the first man to have won both the moguls and dual moguls World Championship events, and has won the most medals at the Freestyle World Championships of any male competitor in history, having won a medal in 11 of the 12 events he has competed in. Kingsbury won the Olympic silver medal in 2014, and, at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, he won the gold medal as Olympic champion of men's moguls.
Kerttu Elina Niskanen is a Finnish cross-country skier. She is a four-time Olympic medalist.
Alexis Pinturault is a French World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic medalist.
Beat Feuz is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer, specializing in the speed events of downhill and super-G. He is 2017 World champion and 2022 Olympic champion in downhill. In 2021, he won consecutive downhills on the famed Streif at Kitzbühel.

The men's ski cross competition in freestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held on 18 February, at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. Ryan Regez of Switzerland won the event, and his compatriot Alex Fiva won the silver medal, the first Olympic medals for both of them. Sergey Ridzik, representing the Russian Olympic Committee, won the bronze medal, replicating his 2018 success.
