Ryan Shotzberger (April 12, 1982) is an American college baseball coach and former shortstop. He is the head baseball coach at the University of the Incarnate Word. Shotzberger played college baseball at McDaniel College from 2001 to 2004 for coach Dave Seibert. He served as the head assistant at the University of Houston from 2012 to 2019.

Playing career

Shotzberger attended Wilmington Friends School in Wilmington, Delaware. [1] He was a member of the schools varsity baseball team. He then enrolled at McDaniel College, to play college baseball for the McDaniel Green Terror baseball team. He was named First Team All-Centennial Conference in 2003 and 2004. [2]

Coaching career

Shotzberger began his coaching career in 2005 as an assistant coach at Cecil College. [3] He was named an assistant coach at Duke for the 2006 season. On August 22, 2006, he was named an assistant at TCU. [4] While at TCU, Shotzberger was an assistant with Todd Whitting, who would add Shotzberger to his coaching staff at the University of Houston on August 11, 2011. [5] Following the 2014 season, he stepped back into a Director of Player Development role. In 2018, he returned to the field as a coach.

On June 24, 2019, Shotzberger was named the 5th coach in program history for the Incarnate Word Cardinals baseball program. [6]

The 2018 Incarnate Word Cardinals football team represented the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in the 2018 NCAA Division I FCS football season as a member of the Southland Conference. The Cardinals played their home games at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium in San Antonio, Texas. They were led by first year head coach Eric Morris. They finished the season 6–5, 6–2 in Southland play to win a share of the Southland Conference championship. They received an at-large bid to the FCS Playoffs, where they lost in the first round to Montana State. The Cardinals were set to play the Iowa State Cyclones during the first weekend in December, but the game was cancelled.

James Patrick Hallmark is an American college baseball coach and former outfielder and catcher. He is the head baseball coach at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Hallmark played college baseball at Alvin Community College and Rice University before pursuing a professional career. Hallmark was the head coach of the Incarnate Word Cardinals baseball from 2018 to 2019.

The 2019 NCAA Division I Baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began February 15, 2019. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2019 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 26, 2019. The Vanderbilt Commodores won the tournament, and were consequently named national champions.

William Randall Davis Jr. is an American college baseball coach and former catcher. Davis is the head coach of the Lamar Cardinals baseball team. Davis is the son of former college baseball coach Randy Davis who was an assistant coach at UL-Monroe, LSU, and South Carolina and the head coach at Louisiana Tech. The 2024 Incarnate Word Cardinals baseball team represented the University of the Incarnate Word during the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Cardinals played their home games at Sullivan Field and were led by fifth–year head coach Ryan Shotzberger. They are members of the Southland Conference. They compiled a 26–31 overall record and finished with a 10–14 record in conference play in a three–way tie for 6th place. The Cardinals qualified for the SLC tournament as the 8th seeded team. The team had a 1–2 record in tournament play defeating 1st seeded Lamar 6–3 and falling to 5th seeded McNeese 2–6 and Lamar 6–18(7).
