S. V. S. Raghavan is an Indian industrialist and the former head of Bharat Business International Limited (BBIL). [1] He headed the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited in the 1980s [2] after which served Ashok Leyland and Texmaco before taking up the chairmanship of Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation (MMTC). [1] In March 1990, he was appointed as the chairman of BBIL, an apex organization which had MMTC and State Trading Corporation of India (STC) as its subsidiaries. [1] Recipient of National Citizen Award by the President of India-1989, Retired in the rank of Secretary in Ministry of Commerce, Govt.of India, Chairman of the Committee on Competition Law & Policy, Retired Member of the Indian Defence Accounts Services.
Raghavan has also served several public sector industries in India such as Kerala Ayurveda Limited, Gujarat Sidhee Cement Limited, Saurashtra Cement Limited and Bhuruka Gases Limited, as the chairman or director. [3] In between, he has been the executive chairman of the Competition Commission of India, the watchdog organization set up by the Government of India for the enforcement of The Competition Act, 2002. During this period, he headed the Central Government committee of 2000 set up for advising policy guidelines on competition and corporate governance, [4] which later came to be known as SVS Raghavan Committee. [5] [6] In September 2006, he was made the Emeritus Chairman of the Kerala Ayurveda Limited, after his superannuation from service. [3] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1985. [7]
The Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award of the Republic of India, after the Bharat Ratna. Instituted on 2 January 1954, the award is given for "exceptional and distinguished service". All persons without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these awards. However, government servants including those working with public sector undertakings, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for these Awards. As of 2024, the award has been bestowed on 336 individuals, including thirty-one posthumous and twenty-one non-citizen recipients.
The Padma Bhushan is the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India, preceded by the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan and followed by the Padma Shri. Instituted on 2 January 1954, the award is given for "distinguished service of a high order ... without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex." The award criteria include "service in any field including service rendered by Government servants" including doctors and scientists, but exclude those working with the public sector undertakings. Vaidya Suresh Chaturvedi (1928–2017) was an Ayurveda practitioner from Rajasthan, India. Previously he was a professor at Bombay University and has written many books on Ayurveda. In 2000, he was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in the India. As an active practitioner of the ancient science of Ayurveda (healing), he is known in the national and international arenas of alternate medicines and has presented numerous papers. He has held a number of conferences in India. He was, a Ph.D guide in the University of Mumbai.

Ashok Gulati is an Indian agricultural economist and a former chairman of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), the advisory body of the Government of India on food supplies and pricing policies. P. R. Krishna Kumar was an Indian Ayurveda expert and managing director of The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Ltd. He established The Ayurvedic Trust, overseeing AVCRI and AVP Research Foundation, a non-profit organisation promoting research in the Ayurveda. He was the chancellor of the Avinashilingam University, and the chairman of CARe Keralam, a resource centre involved in efforts to standardise Ayurvedic medicines. The Government of India awarded him the fourth-highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Ayurveda.
Satya Pal Wahi was an Indian corporate executive, army officer, technocrat, writer and a former chairman of public sector enterprises such as Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) and Cement Corporation of India (CCI). He was a member the Corps of EME and held the rank of a colonel. A recipient of the degree of Doctor of Science from three Indian universities, Wahi also received honors such as the Petrotech Lifetime Achievement Award, the Indian Geophysical Union Silver jubilee Award and the Giants international Award. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1988, for his contributions to society.
