Malayalam cinema, also known as Mollywood, is the Indian film industry based in the southern state of Kerala, dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Malayalam language. The films produced in Malayalam cinema are known for their cinematography and story-driven realistic plots. Works such as Marana Simhasanam and Vanaprastham were screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival. Marana Simhasanam garnered the coveted Caméra d'Or for that year.

1921 is a 1988 Indian Malayalam-language war film written by T. Damodaran and directed by I. V. Sasi, set during the 1921–22 Mappila Uprising in Madras Presidency. The film has an ensemble cast including Mammootty, Madhu, Suresh Gopi, T. G. Ravi, Seema, Urvashi and Mukesh. It tells the fictional story of Khader (Mammootty), a World War I veteran, who joins with the Mappila rebels during the Uprising.

Avanazhy was new record of malayalam cinema and highest grossing film of that year 1986.

Podaa Podi is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language musical romantic comedy film written and directed by debutant Vignesh Shivan, starring Silambarasan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The score and soundtrack of the film were composed by Dharan Kumar, while cinematography and editing were handled by Duncan Telford and Anthony Gonsalves, respectively. The film started production in 2008 and was released on 13 November 2012, as a Diwali release. Despite good reviews, this movie didn't do well since it clashed with Vijay starrer Thuppakki.

His playblack debut and big break came with the song "Latcham Calorie" from the movie Yaan in 2014.
By The People is a 2005 Indian Malayalam-language vigilante thriller film directed by Jayaraj and starring Narain. It is the sequel of 4 the People (2004) and the prequel of Of the People (2008). The film was a box office failure. The film marks the debut of Surabhi Lakshmi.

Adithya Varma is a 2019 south Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Gireesaaya in his directorial debut and produced by Mukesh Mehta under E4 Entertainment. The film stars Dhruv Vikram in his acting debut and Banita Sandhu in her Tamil debut, while Priya Anand appears in a supporting role. A remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017) directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, it follows Dhruv, playing the titular character Adithya Varma, a high-functioning alcoholic surgeon who has anger management problems. He pushes himself to a self-destructive path after the marriage of his girlfriend Meera; following which focuses on his downfall and subsequent resurgence.
