SJPF Segunda Liga Player of the Month

The SJPF Segunda Liga Player of the Month (often called Second League Player of the Month) is an association football award that recognizes the best Segunda Liga player each month of the season and is conceived by the SJPF (syndicate of professional football players). The award has been presented since the 2010–11 season and the recipient is based on individual scores assigned by the three national sports dailies, A Bola , Record , and O Jogo . Miguel Rosa has won the award most on different eight occasions.

Prior to the start 2012–13 Segunda Liga season, the SJPF announced that the SJPF Segunda Liga Player of the Month award would be awarded to a player on a bimonthly status with one player receiving an award for two months of football that have been played. The SJPF Player of the Month is an association football award that recognizes the best Portuguese League player each month of the season and is conceived by the SJPF. The award has been presented since the 2003–04 season and the recipient is based on individual scores assigned by the three national sports dailies, A Bola, Record, and O Jogo. The first winner of the award was Beira-Mar midfielder Juninho Petrolina in September 2003. Hulk has won the award six times. Pedro Barbosa became the first Portuguese to win the award in November 2003. The "Big Three" have had the most winners.

The LPFP Awards are a number of awards given annually during the Portuguese League for Professional Football (LPFP) gala, and the winners are chosen by a vote amongst the LPFP pairs. Between 2006 and 2010 the winners were chosen only by a vote amongst the members of Sports National Press Club (CNID). Since 2011, thanks to new sponsorship agreements, all the awards related to football belong to LPFP and their associated.

The SJPF Young Player of the Month is an association football award that recognizes the best Portuguese League young player each month of the season and is conceived by the SJPF. The award has been presented since the 2003–04 season and the recipient is based on individual scores assigned by the three national sports dailies. The first winner of the award was João Moutinho in October 2006. Moutinho has won the award a record six times. Only Portuguese players under age 23 are in contention to win the award.

The 2011–12 Primeira Liga was the 78th season of the Primeira Liga, the top professional league for Portuguese association football clubs. It began on 14 August 2011 and ended on 13 May 2012. A total of 16 teams contested the league, 14 of which already took part in the previous season and two of which were promoted from the Liga de Honra. Porto were the defending champions and secured their 26th and second consecutive league title. Óscar Cardozo and Lima, respectively Benfica's and Braga's strikers, were the joint top scorers with 20 goals.

The Portuguese League for Professional Football Primeira Liga Player of the Year is an annual award given to the player who is adjudged to have been the best of the year in Primeira Liga. Between 2006 and 2010 the winner was chosen only by a vote amongst the members of Sports National Press Club (CNID). Since 2011, thanks to new sponsorship agreements, all the awards related to football belong to Portuguese League for Professional Football (LPFP) and are chosen by a vote amongst their associated.

Sixteen teams contested the league, fourteen of which took part in the previous season and two of which were promoted from the Liga de Honra. Porto were the defending champions and secured their third consecutive and 27th overall title, after completing their second unbeaten season in three years. Porto striker Jackson Martínez was the top scorer with 26 goals.

The 2012–13 Segunda Liga was the 23rd season of the second-tier of football in Portugal. This season marked a series of changes in the league overall. The league's name was changed back to Segunda Liga from the previous Liga de Honra. A total of 22 teams contested the league, up from 16 in the previous season; 14 of which contested the 2011–12 season, two of which were promoted from the Portuguese Second Division, one of which was relegated from the 2011–12 Primeira Liga, and five of which were new reserve teams of Primeira Liga clubs. The reserve teams were not eligible for promotion to the Primeira Liga.

The 2013–14 Primeira Liga was the 80th season of the Primeira Liga, the top professional league for Portuguese association football clubs. It began on 18 August 2013 and concluded on 11 May 2014. Sixteen teams contested the league, fourteen of which took part in the previous season and two of which were promoted from the Segunda Liga. On 20 April 2014, Benfica won the Primeira Liga for a record 33rd time with a 2–0 victory over Olhanense, with two matches to spare.

The 2015–16 LigaPro was the 26th season of Portuguese football's second-tier league, and the first season under the current LigaPro title. A total of 24 teams competed in this division, including five reserve sides from top-flight Primeira Liga teams. The season began on 7 August 2015 and concluded on 14 May 2016.

Benfica were the defending champions for a fourth consecutive time, but they did not retain the title. Porto became the new champions with two matches to spare, clinching their 28th league title. This was their first trophy in four years.
