Synaptotagmin-like 2, also known as SYTL2, is a human gene. [5]
The protein encoded by this gene is a synaptotagmin-like protein (SLP) that belongs to a C2 domain-containing protein family. The SLP homology domain (SHD) of this protein has been shown to specifically bind the GTP-bound form of Ras-related protein Rab-27A (RAB27A), which suggests a role in vesicle trafficking. Multiple alternatively spiced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been observed. [5]
Melanophilin is a carrier protein which in humans is encoded by the MLPH gene. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described, but the full-length nature of some of these variants has not been determined.
Ras-related protein Rab-3A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RAB3A gene. It is involved in calcium-triggered exocytosis in neurons.
Synaptotagmin-1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SYT1 gene.
Mannose-6-phosphate receptor binding protein 1 (M6PRBP1) is a protein which in humans is encoded by the M6PRBP1 gene. Its gene product, as well as the gene itself, is commonly known as TIP47.
Synaptotagmin-binding, cytoplasmic RNA-interacting protein (SYNCRIP), also known as heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) Q or NS1-associated protein-1 (NSAP-1), is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SYNCRIP gene. As the name implies, SYNCRIP is localized predominantly in the cytoplasm. It is evolutionarily conserved across eukaryotes and participates in several cellular and disease pathways, especially in neuronal and muscular development. In humans, there are three isoforms, all of which are associated in vitro with pre-mRNAs, mRNA splicing intermediates, and mature mRNA-protein complexes, including mRNA turnover.
Neurexin-1-alpha is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NRXN1 gene.
Ras-related protein Rab-8A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RAB8A gene.
Rabphilin-3A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RPH3A gene. It contains two C2 domains and binds calcium ions at low micromolar concentration. Rabphilin was shown to regulate neurotransmitter release in hippocampal neurons after neurons had an increased synaptic activity and their release rate was depressed.
Synaptotagmin-like protein 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SYTL4 gene.
Synaptotagmin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SYT2 gene.
Synaptotagmin-3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SYT3 gene.
