Wendy Renee Brown is a retired heptathlete and triple jumper from the United States. She competed in the heptathlon at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, finishing in 18th place behind teammate Jackie Joyner Kersee's still current world record. As the event was in transition to become an official event, she set the world record in the women's triple jump twice in the mid-1980s. Because this was before the event was declared official, neither of those records were officially ratified. Brown went to the University of Southern California where she won the 1986 NCAA Indoor Championship in the Triple Jump and later winning 1988 NCAA Championship in the Heptathlon. She is still the school record holder in the Triple Jump and Heptathlon, as well as being ranked second in Long Jump and High Jump, and fifth in the Javelin throw.

Vadim Hranovschi is a Moldovan discus thrower. His personal best throw is 64.43 metres, achieved in May 2010 in Chișinău.

The eighth edition of the European Race Walking Cup took place in the French city of Metz on Sunday May 24, 2009.

The third edition of the European Race Walking Cup took place in the German city of Eisenhüttenstadt on Saturday June 17 and Sunday June 18, 2000. The 16th Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships were held in the Estadio Rafael Hernández Ochoa in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, between 25–27 June 2004. The games were originally planned to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador. However, they were relocated to the state of Veracruz in Mexico in early 2004. Both cities of Xalapa and Coatzacoalcos were applicants. A discussion of the results is given.

Oleksiy Serhiyovych Semenov is a Ukrainian discus thrower. He competed for the men's event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he finished twenty-fourth in the qualification round, with a distance of 60.18 metres. His personal best in the outdoor season is 65.96 metres, which was further achieved on July 15, 2012 in Kyiv.

Sandra-Helena Ribeiro Tavares Homo is a Portuguese pole vaulter. Tavares represented Portugal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed for the women's pole vault. She successfully cleared a height of 4.30 metres, finishing nineteenth overall in the qualifying rounds, and tying her position with Greece's Afroditi Skafida, and Poland's Joanna Piwowarska.

The 2008 Oceania Youth Athletics Championships were held at the Oleai Sports Complex in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, between June 25–28, 2008. They were held together with the 2008 Oceania Open Championships. A total of 37 events were contested, 19 by boys and 18 by girls.

The 2012 South American Race Walking Championships were held in Salinas, Ecuador, on March 17–18, 2012. The track of the championship runs in El Malecón de Salinas.

The 2004 South American Race Walking Championships were held in Los Ángeles, Chile, on April 3–4, 2004. The track of the championship runs in the Avenida Ricardo Vicuña. For the first time, the men's long race was 50 km rather than 35 km.

The 1990 Asian Junior Athletics Championships was the third edition of the international athletics competition for Asian under-20 athletes, organised by the Asian Athletics Association. It took place from 13–16 June in Beijing, China. A total of 40 events were contested, 22 for male athletes and 18 for female athletes.
