Eden Cherrelle Francis (born 19 October 1988 in Leicester) is an English female athlete who competes in the shot put and discus. She has personal best distances of 17.24 metres and 59.78 metres respectively in these events. [1] [2]

Athletics career

Francis competed in both events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland finishing 6th in the shot put and 7th in the discus.

She was the first British (male or female) athlete to win the discus event at the European Athletics U23 Championships, winning in Kaunus, Lithuania in 2009. This also represented Britain's first ever gold medal for a female discus thrower at European, World or Olympic level. [3] Her gold medal was subsequently stolen during a burglary at her home. [4]

She has been British champion eight times. Twice were indoors with the shot put in 2008 and 2015. The other six British titles were won outdoors with the discus in 2012 and 2014 and the shot put in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014. [5] She is also the British under 20 record holder in the discus. [6]

Elisângela Maria Adriano, is a Brazilian shot putter and discus thrower, whose personal best put is 19.30 metres, achieved in July 2001 in Tunja. Her personal best discus throw is 61.96 metres, achieved in May 1998 in São Leopoldo.

Mary M. Wixey was a British track and field athlete based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. At the time of her death, she was one of Great Britain's oldest Veteran Track and Field Athletes, and regularly competed on the veterans' circuit.

Julie Labonté is a Canadian track and field athlete competing in shot put and discus.

Geisa Rafaela Arcanjo is a Brazilian athlete. She was a finalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics, finishing sixth. Her personal best for the event is 19.02 metres. She was the 2012 gold medallist at the Ibero-American Championships in Athletics. Arcanjo initially won at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics but was disqualified for doping.

Ivanka Koleva is a Paralympian track and field athlete from Bulgaria competing mainly in throwing events in the T57 classification. Koleva has represented Bulgaria at four Summer Paralympics from 2000 to 2012, winning gold in the shot put in the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney. She was also world champion in the discus in 1994, and competed once as a powerlifter in the 2008 Summer Paralympics at Beijing.

Fatema Nedham is a Paralympic athlete from Bahrain. She is the first female Paralympic athlete to win a medal at the Summer Paralympics for Bahrain. She represented the country at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and she won the gold medal in the women's shot put F53 event with a throw of 4.76 metres. She was also the flag bearer for her country during the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Paralympics.

Adele Nicoll is a British shot putter, discus thrower and bobsledder. She has won multiple Welsh Athletics Championships events, and won the shot put event at the 2022 British Athletics Championships. She came second in the 2021–22 Bobsleigh World Cup event in Sigulda, Latvia alongside Mica McNeill. Nicoll was a reserve for the 2022 Winter Olympics, and competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
