Serena Vincent (date 5 December 2002) is a British shot putter. An English shot put champion, she has won multiple medals indoors and outdoors at the British Athletics Championships.
From Bursledon, she attended The Gregg School in Southampton. [1] At the age of fifteen years-old, she was selected to represent England at the Commonwealth Youth Games. [2] The youngest competitor in the field, she placed ninth overall in the shot put final. [3]
A member of City of Portsmouth AC, Vincent set British shot put records at U17 and U18 level. She won the World Schools Cup in Croatia in 2019. [4] [5]
In September 2020, she became the number one ranked U20 shot putter in the world. [6] That month, she won her first medal at the senior 2020 British Athletics Championships, throwing 15.60m to secure third place. [7]
In July 2021, she won the senior England Athletics Championship shot put title. [8] In 2022, she placed fifth at the 2022 British Athletics Championships. [9]
She managed 16.15m to finish second in the women’s shot put behind world champion Chase Ealey at the Reykjavik International Games in February 2023. [10] In March 2023, she won the U23 women’s shot put at the 2023 European Throwing Cup with a personal best of 16.90 metres. [11] She was a silver medalist in the shot put at the 2023 European Athletics U23 Championships in Espoo in July 2023, improving her personal best to 16.93 metres. [12]
In February 2024, she was runner-up at the 2024 British Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham with a distance of 16.69 metres. [13] [14] She set a new personal best at the Loughborough International of 17.78 metres in May 2024. [15] She was a silver medalist at the 2024 British Athletics Championships in the shot put, with 17.32 metres. [16]

The shot put is a track and field event involving "putting" (throwing) a heavy spherical ball—the shot—as far as possible. For men, the sport has been a part of the modern Olympics since their revival (1896), and women's competition began in 1948.
Geoffrey Lewis Capes JP was an English shot putter, strongman, and Highland Games competitor. He was famous in the UK in the 1980s for his sporting prowess and appearances on television in shows such as Superstars and the World's Strongest Man.
Dame Valerie Kasanita Adams is a retired New Zealand shot putter. She is a four-time World champion, four-time World Indoor champion, two-time Olympic, three-time Commonwealth Games champion and twice IAAF Continental Cup winner. Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill is a British retired athlete, specialising in the heptathlon and 100 metres hurdles. As a competitor in heptathlon, she is the 2012 Olympic champion, a three-time world champion, and the 2010 European champion. She is also the 2010 World Indoor pentathlon champion. A member of the City of Sheffield & Dearne athletic club, she is a former British national record holder for the heptathlon. Assunta Legnante is a visually impaired Italian shot putter. She has competed in both the Olympics and the Paralympics, one of the few athletes to do so. As of February 2013, she is the current F11 shot put world record holder. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Women's discus throw F11, and Women's shot put F12, winning silver medals.
Myrtle Sharon Mary Augee is a female retired English shot putter. Augee now works as a custodial manager in a prison and was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2009 Birthday Honours.
Margaret "Meg" Elizabeth Stone is a retired Scottish discus thrower and Shot putter. She reached the Olympic finals at discus in Moscow 1980 (9th) and Los Angeles 1984 (5th). She also won the 1982 Commonwealth Games title. Her discus best of 67.48 metres has stood as the British record since 1981, while her shot put best of 18.99 metres has stood as the Scottish record since 1983.

They won four NCAA collegiate titles in shot put, both indoor and outdoor, at Southern Illinois University and University of Mississippi. They were a world junior silver medalist in 2014 and the Pan American junior champion in 2015. Saunders finished 11th in women's shot put at the 2024 Paris Olympics, throwing a distance of 17.79 m. They hold a personal record of 19.96 m for the shot put.
Sabrina Fortune is a British Paralympic track and field athlete from Wales competing in category F20 throwing events. Fortune won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the shot put, a gold medal at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships, also in shot put, and a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in shot put.
Sophie McKinna is a British Olympic athlete specialising in the shot put. She won silver medals at the 2011 World Youth Championships and 2013 European Junior Championships.

Sarah Dawn Mitton is a Canadian athlete specializing in the shot put. She is the 2023 World silver medallist and 2024 World Indoor champion, the first Canadian woman to medal in the shot put at either World Athletics global championship. As well, she is the 2023 Pan American, 2022 Commonwealth, and 2019 Summer Universiade champion.

Adele Nicoll is a British shot putter, discus thrower and bobsledder. She has won multiple Welsh Athletics Championships events, and won the shot put event at the 2022 and 2023 British Athletics Championships. She came second in the 2021–22 Bobsleigh World Cup event in Sigulda, Latvia alongside Mica McNeill. Nicoll was a reserve for the 2022 Winter Olympics, and competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
