Sahar Nusseibeh (born May 7, 1987) [1] is a women's basketball head coach and former player. She is the current head coach of the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team. [2] She previously served as the head coach at Canisius University. [3]

Early life and education

Nusseibeh is from Uniontown, Ohio. She attended North Canton High School in North Canton, Ohio where she played high school basketball. [4] She played college basketball for American University from 2005 through 2009 where she received her bachelor's degree in international business. [5] She earned an MBA from the University of Cincinnati in 2011. [6]

Coaching career

She had WNBA internships with the Atlanta Dream in 2007 and the Washington Mystics 2009 before becoming a graduate assistant for the Cincinnati Bearcats from 2011 through 2013. [8] Her first job as at assistant coach was with Holy Cross from 2011 to 2013. [9] She spent three years each as an assistant at both Bowling Green and Manhattan, and two at Miami (OH) before landing her first head coaching job. [10]

Canisius

On July 23, 2021, She was named the head coach at Canisius. [11] She led the Golden Griffins to a 32–60 record over three seasons. [12] Their 17–14 record in her final season was Canisius's first winning record since 2009.

Eastern Michigan

On March 28, 2024, She was named the ninth head coach at Eastern Michigan. [13]

The Eastern Michigan Eagles, formerly known as the Normalites and the Hurons, are the athletic teams for Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States. The Eagles compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as members of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The only exception is the women's rowing program, which is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association.
