Mamman Kwagyang Saleh (born 2 January 1958),is a Nigerian government official that served as Minister of Power from August 2019 to September 2021. He was sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari on 21 August 2019 after being nominated by Buhari and confirmed by the Senate. [1] [2] [3] On 1 September 2021,Mamman was sacked by Buhari and replaced by Minister of State for Works and Housing Abubakar Aliyu. [4]
Saleh is from Taraba State. He holds a higher national diploma in electrical electronics from Kaduna Polytechnic,graduating in 1988. He also hold an MBA in business administration from Bayero University Kano,graduating in 2015. [5] [6]
Saleh started his career in 1981 as a teacher in Technical School,Mubi,Adamawa State. In 1992,he transferred his service to Taraba State. He was promoted to the rank of assistant director in the ministry of works in Taraba State and retired in 2002. After his retirement,he became a full-time businessman and politician. [7]
Adamawa state is a state in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria,bordered by Borno to the northwest,Gombe to the west,and Taraba to the southwest,while its eastern border forms part of the national border with Cameroon. It takes its name from the historic emirate of Adamawa,with the emirate's old capital of Yola,serving as the capital city of Adamawa state. The state is one of the most heterogeneous in Nigeria. with over 100 indigenous ethnic groups,formed in 1991,when the former Gongola state was broken up into Adamawa and Taraba states. Since its was carved out of the old Gongola State in 1991 by the General Ibrahim Badamsi Babangida military regime,Adamawa State has had 10 men,both military and civilian,controlling the levers of power,who played crucial roles in transforming the state into what it is today.
Taraba is a state in North Eastern Nigeria,named after the Taraba River,which traverses the southern part of the state. Taraba state's capital is Jalingo. The inhabitants are mainly the people from Mumuye,Fulani,Jenjo,Karimjo,Wurkum,and Kona tribes,who are predominantly resident in the northern part of the state,while the Jukun,Chamba,Tiv,Kuteb and Ichen tribes are found predominantly in the southern part of the state.The central region is mainly occupied by the Mambila people,Chamba,Fulani and Jibawa. There are over 77 different tribes,and their languages in Taraba State.
