Kaduna Polytechnic is one of the earliest polytechnics in Nigeria, located in Tudun Wada area of Kaduna South local government of Kaduna state, North-Western Nigeria. [2]

History

It was established in 1956 as Kaduna Technical Institute after the British Government accepted the upgrading of Yaba Higher College (now Yaba College of Technology) to a technical institute and also proposed the establishment of technical institutes in Kaduna and Enugu through the recommendation of the Higher Education Commission. [3] The polytechnic offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses at the undergraduate level. In 2019/2020 academic session the institute will start awarding National Diploma in Railway Engineering Technology as approved by NBTE on 30 January 2020. [4] [5] The board of Governors of Kaduna Polytechnic was set up in 1991, with representative of eleven state governments, universities, rectors. The board is responsible for the supervision and control of the school. They are called the Governing Council. [6]

This is the Kaduna Polytechnic Library, known as Isa Kaita Library. The Library is equipped with information resources for the support of research, learning of both students and staff. The Library is located at the main campus which is at Kaduna South Tudun Wada Kaduna. [7]

Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic (HAFEDPOLY) is located in Kazaure, Jigawa State, Nigeria. It was founded in December 1991 as Jigawa State Polytechnic, with four colleges in different locations. These were the College of Engineering, Science and Technology at Kazaure, the College of Business and Management Studies at Dutse, the College of Islamic and Legal Studies at Ringim and the College of Agriculture at Hadejia. Shehu Sani is a Nigerian senator, an author, playwright and a human rights activist. He is the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria - (CRCN). and was the Chairman of Hand-in-Hand, Africa. He was a leading figure in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria. He has been arrested and jailed by successive past military regimes in Nigeria. He was released from life imprisonment when democracy was restored in Nigeria in 1999. He contested and won the Kaduna Central Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressive Congress on 28 March 2015.

Adewale Oke Adekola was a Nigerian engineer, academic, author, and administrator. He was the first Nigerian dean of engineering and head of civil engineering at the University of Lagos. He was the founding vice chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi and emeritus professor of the University of Lagos. He was a pioneer of engineering education in Nigeria and reputed as a great teacher.
