Kaduna is the capital city of Kaduna State, and the former political capital of Northern Nigeria. It is located in north-western Nigeria, on the Kaduna River. It is a trade center and a major transportation hub as the gateway to northern states of Nigeria, with its rail and important road network.

He was governor of Kaduna State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007, and was elected Senator for Kaduna North senatorial district in April 2007. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Isaiah Chawai Balat was a Nigerian politician and businessman from southern Kaduna State. He was the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Kaduna South Senatorial District from May 2003 to May 2007 and, a member of the People's Democratic Party. Prior to his election to the Senate, he served as the Minister of State for Works and Housing in the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999 to 2000. In May 2010, Balat was appointed the Special Advisor to the President on Special Duties where he served until his demise in 2014.
Hajia Maryam Inna Ciroma was appointed Nigerian minister of Women Affairs in July 2005 by President Olusegun Obasanjo. She was replaced by Saudatu Bungudu when President Umaru Yar'Adua swore in his cabinet in July 2007.
Alhaji Mohammed Dabo Lere was a Nigerian politician who served as the governor of Kaduna State from January 1992 to November 1993 during the Nigerian Third Republic, leaving office after the military coup that brought General Sani Abacha to power.

Umar Sani is Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Vice President Namadi Sambo of Nigeria. He has been Sambo's aide since 2007 when the latter just won the gubernatorial elections in Kaduna. He was also part of the PDP campaign council in 2019 representing as a spokesman, he is also a long serving member of the PDP.

She has also won the 2nd Kannywood/MTN Awards in the year 2014. She presently serves as the founder of HAG Foundation.
Rahama Ibrahim Sadau is a Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and singer. Born and raised in Kaduna, she performed in dancing competitions as a child and during her school years. She rose to fame in late 2013 after joining the Kannywood movie industry with her first movie Gani ga Wane.
Saudatu Mahdi is a Nigerian Women's Right advocate. She is the Secretary General of Women's Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA). She has published over 20 books focusing on violence against women, women’s rights, Shari’a and women and women in education. Mahdi led the team that fought and won the acquittal for a Nigerian woman who was sentenced to death by hanging because she had a child out of wedlock.
Laila Dogonyaro was a Nigerian activist who was president of the National Council of Women's Societies from 1993 to 1995. In the early 1970s, she was Secretary of Jam'iyyar Matan Arewa, a women's welfare organization.
The 2023 Kaduna State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Kaduna State, concurrent with elections to the Kaduna State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Kaduna State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Kaduna State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
