Salim Hassan is a Kerala-based film actor who is a renowned professional in the Malayalam television industry. [1] He is best known by his screen name of Pyarijathan or Pyari in the Malayalam television sitcom, Marimayam aired on the entertainment channel Mazhavil Manorama. [2] [3] [4] He had also appeared in Malayalam films including Mera Naam Shaji (2019) and Makal (2022). [5] [6] [7]
Salim Hassan is a native of Mulavukad island located in Kochi, Kerala. His father Hassan was a small-scale business man while his mother, Khadeeja was a house wife. He has an elder brother. His father had been involved in stage play which led him to be active in mimicry during his school days. He married his wife Babitha in 2006 and has two daughters. [8]
He marked his entry into mini screen through the family reality show, Veruthe Alla Bharya aired on Mazhavil Manorama, which he secured third position. He played the role of Pyarijathan in Marimayam, a sitcom aired on the same channel. [8] [3] Marimayam is the only Malayalam television show to win the 'Best Comedy Show' award at Kerala State Television Awards for five consecutive years in a row starting from 2015. [9] [3] Salim Hassan won the Special Jury Award in 2020.
