Peggy Gale Fleming is a retired American figure skater. She is the 1968 Winter Olympic Champion in the ladies' singles, being the only American gold medalist at these Games, and a three-time World Champion (1966–1968) in the same event. Fleming has been a television commentator in figure skating for over 20 years, including at several Winter Olympic Games.
Sally Jane Janet Gunnell is a British former track-and-field athlete, active between 1984 and 1997, who won the 1992 Olympic gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles. During a 24-month period between 1992 and 1994, Gunnell won every international event open to her, claiming Olympic Games, World Championship, European Championship, Commonwealth Games, Goodwill Games, IAAF World Cup and European Cup golds in the event, and breaking the British, European and World records in it. She is the only female British athlete to have won all four 'majors'; Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth titles, and was the first female 400 metres hurdler in history to win the Olympic and World titles and break the world record. Her former world record time of 52.74 secs in 1993 is still the current British record. She was named World and European Female Athlete of the Year in 1993, and was made an MBE in 1993 and an OBE in 1998.
Vern Fleming is an American former professional basketball player who played twelve seasons in the NBA from 1984 until 1996 for the Indiana Pacers and New Jersey Nets. He played college basketball for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Sandra Marie Farmer-Patrick is a Jamaican-born American former athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metres hurdles. She won silver medals in that event at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, and at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart. She also won the 400 metres hurdles at the World Cup in 1989 and 1992. Her best time for the event of 52.79 seconds (1993), is the former U.S. record. That performance once ranked her second on the world all-time list, and as of 2024, ranks her 15th on the world all-time list.
Tonja Yvette Buford-Bailey is an American former Olympian who competed mainly in the 400 meter hurdles. She competed as Tonja Buford until marrying Victor Bailey on October 28, 1995. In 1982, when she was 12 years old, she met former track runner Wilma Rudolph. She attended Meadowdale High School in Dayton and the University of Illinois.
Janeene Hope Vickers-McKinney is an American former athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metres hurdles. She won bronze medals in the 400 metres hurdles at the 1992 Olympic Games and the 1991 World Championships. She also won the 1990 US Championship.
John Macfarlane "Dutch" Holland was a New Zealand athlete who competed mainly in hurdles events. His greatest international success was in the 400 metre/440 yards hurdles.

The African island nation of São Tomé and Príncipe competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, held from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's fifth appearance at the Olympics since its debut in 1996. Two track and field athletes, Christopher Lima da Costa and Lecabela Quaresma were selected to the team by wildcard places, without having qualified at any sporting event. Quaresma was selected as flag bearer for the opening and closing ceremonies. Neither of the two athletes progressed beyond the first round of their respective events.

Edit Vári is a Hungarian sprint hurdler. At age thirty-three, Vari made her official debut for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed in the women's 100 m hurdles. She ran in the third heat against seven other athletes, including Australia's Sally McLellan, who later won the silver medal in the final. She finished the heat in last place by three hundredths of a second (0.03) behind Greece's Flora Redoumi, with a slowest possible time of 13.59 seconds. Vari, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as she placed thirty-sixth overall, and was ranked below two mandatory slots for the next round.

Susan Anita Jayne Chick is a British former athlete who competed in the 400 metres hurdles. She finished seventh in the 400 metres hurdles final at the 1983 World Championships. She also represented Great Britain in the women's 400 metres hurdles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, and England at the 1982 Commonwealth Games. Her sister, Kay Morley-Brown, is also a former international hurdler.
Elaine Mary H. McLaughlin is a Northern Irish former hurdler. She competed for Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the women's 400 metres hurdles at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She was also a two-time Commonwealth Games finalist for Northern Ireland and won the UK Championships 400m hurdles title three times (1987–89).
