Salt and vinegar chips are a potato chip variety. It is considered to be a "staple" in the United Kingdom and is one of the earliest varieties of flavoured chips. [1] [2] Salt and vinegar chips are also sold in Canada, which is known for its vinegar-based chip flavours that are less common in the United States. [3] An American company, Herr's Snacks, sells the variety. [4] According to a writer for the Tasting Table, salt and vinegar chips pair well with beer. [5] Salt and vinegar chips have a noticeable scent when bags are opened. [6] Multiple brands that sell the variety only use vegan ingredients. [7] [8] Sometimes the salt used in the chips is sea salt. Salt and vinegar chips are the fourth-most popular potato chip flavour worldwide. [9]
