Sam Jackson V (born April 21, 2003) is an American football wide receiver for the Auburn Tigers. He previously played for the TCU Horned Frogs and the California Golden Bears as a quarterback.
A Chicago native, Jackson attended Bolingbrook High School in Bolingbrook, Illinois, before transferring to Naperville Central High School in Naperville, Illinois as a sophomore. [1] As a sophomore, he played wide receiver on the football team and recorded 50 receptions for 847 yards and 14 touchdowns. [1] Jackson was converted to a quarterback as a junior in 2019 and passed for 1,727 yards and 16 touchdowns. [1] He did not play his senior season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jackson committed to play college football at TCU after having previously committed to Minnesota and Purdue. [2] [3]
In week eleven of the 2021 season, Jackson completed his first career pass, 1 62-yard strike to Taye Barber. [4] [5] In week one of the 2022 season, he rushed for 44 yards and his first career touchdown, as he helped TCU beat Colorado 38–13. [6] In week two win over Tarleton State, Jackson went four for four on his passes for 58 yards, also punching in a one-yard rushing touchdown. [7] Jackson finished the 2022 season going five for five for 63 yards, while also rushing for 64 yards and two touchdowns. [8] After the conclusion of the 2022 season Jackson announced that he had decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. [9] [10]
Jackson announced that he had decided to transfer to California to continue his collegiate career. [11] [12] Jackson was named the California starting quarterback for their week one matchup versus North Texas. [13] [14]
On December 11, 2023, Jackson announced that he would be entering the transfer portal for the second time. [15]
On December 27, 2023, Jackson announced that he would be transferring to Auburn and would play as a wide receiver. [16]
John Franklin III is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He most recently played for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for Florida State, Auburn and Florida Atlantic. He also played junior college football for East Mississippi, where he was featured prominently in the first season of Last Chance U. He was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2018.
