Cobb County is a county in the U.S. state of Georgia,located in the Atlanta metropolitan area in the north central portion of the state. As of 2020 Census,the population was 766,149. It is the state's third most populous county,after Fulton and Gwinnett counties. Its county seat is Marietta;its largest city is Mableton.
Kennesaw is a suburban city northwest of Atlanta in Cobb County,Georgia,United States,located within the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. Known from its original settlement in the 1830s until 1887 as Big Shanty,it became Kennesaw under its 1887 charter. According to the 2020 census,Kennesaw had a population of 33,036,a 10.9% increase in population over the preceding decade. Kennesaw has an important place in railroad history. During the Civil War,Kennesaw was the staging ground for the Great Locomotive Chase on April 12,1862. Kennesaw is home to Kennesaw State University,an R2 research institution and the third-largest public university in the state of Georgia.
Southern Polytechnic State University was a public,co-educational,state university in Marietta,Georgia,United States approximately 20 miles (32 km) northwest of downtown Atlanta. Daniel S. Papp is an American scholar of international affairs and policy. Papp served in a variety of professorial and administrative roles in the University System of Georgia (USG). From 2006 to 2016,Papp served as President of Kennesaw State University (KSU),the third-largest university in the State of Georgia. During Papp's tenure,the University's enrollment increased by approximately seventy-five percent,growing from 19,854 to 33,252 undergraduate and graduate students. Under Papp,the University also significantly increased its research and graduate profile,adding a number of new academic programs and becoming classified as a Doctoral University with Moderate Research Activity. In Fall 2015,a University employee alleged the University's director of food services was engaged in fiscal misconduct,leading to an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and USG. Investigations uncovered evidence the University's business office and external foundation were not consistently following USG financial procedures and mandatory reporting of financial misconduct policy. Termination of several high-ranking University employees followed. The investigation also contended the University's external foundation prematurely disbursed approximately $577,000 Papp earned in deferred compensation. While there was no evidence Papp approved or was aware of improprieties,on May 10,2016,Papp announced his retirement.
The Kennesaw State Owls fields 16 varsity athletics teams,competing for Kennesaw State University. After spending ten years in Division II's Peach Belt Conference,the university fully transitioned to Division I status in the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the beginning of the 2009–10 season. All of Kennesaw State's sports teams competed in the Atlantic Sun Conference through the 2023–24 school year,except that football competed as an FCS independent in the 2023 season only. In July 2023,KSU started a transition to the Football Bowl Subdivision in advance of its move to Conference USA,which happened in 2024. Of its 18 varsity sports,only women's lacrosse is not sponsored by CUSA. The school mascot is Scrappy the Owl.
Kennesaw State University (KSU) is a public research university in the state of Georgia with two campuses in the Atlanta metropolitan area,one in Kennesaw and the other in Marietta on a combined 581 acres (235 ha) of land. The school was founded in 1963 by the Georgia Board of Regents using local bonds and a federal space-grant during a time of major Georgia economic expansion after World War II. KSU also holds classes at the Cobb Galleria Centre,Dalton State College,and in Paulding County (Dallas). The total enrollment exceeds 45,000 students making KSU the third-largest university by enrollment in Georgia.

He also served as Dougherty County District Attorney and later ran as the Democratic nominee for Attorney General of Georgia in 2010. In 2015,Hodges started his own law firm,Ken Hodges Law,based out of Atlanta and Albany. In 2018,he won an open seat in a contested race on the Georgia Court of Appeals,earning nearly 70% of the statewide vote.
Fifth Third Stadium,known as Kennesaw State University Stadium until 2013,is a stadium near Kennesaw,Georgia,that is primarily used as the home for the Kennesaw State Owls football team as well as the KSU women's soccer and women's lacrosse teams. It was built as a soccer-specific stadium and opened May 2,2010,with the first match played on May 9. The facility is the result of a public-private partnership between Kennesaw State University and the now-defunct Atlanta Beat of Women's Professional Soccer.
Jessica Colotl is an undocumented immigrant to the United States whose 2010 arrest for driving without a license and possible deportation called attention to the issue of illegal immigration. Colotl was brought from Mexico by her parents without valid documentation into the US when she was either 10 or 11 years old. Colotl became the center of debate over immigration policy,including the enrollment of non-citizens in state universities and discussion of Immigration and Nationality Act Section 287(g) which allowed police to turn her over to immigration enforcement.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in the U.S. state of Georgia since the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges on June 26,2015. Attorney General Sam Olens announced that Georgia would "adhere to the ruling of the Court",and the first couple married just one hour after the ruling was handed down. Previously,Georgia had banned same-sex marriage both by statute and its State Constitution.

In 2016,Governor Nathan Deal appointed Carr as Attorney General to fill a vacancy created by the departure of former Attorney General Sam Olens. Carr was elected to a four-year term in Georgia's 2018 statewide elections. He won a second term in the 2022 Georgia Attorney General election.

Carr won re-election over state senator Jen Jordan by a margin of 5.3 points.

Carr was appointed to the office on November 1,2016,following the resignation of Sam Olens to become the president of Kennesaw State University. Carr won the election to a full term over Democrat Charlie Bailey with 51.3% of the vote.
